Midwest Championships Tournament
To the SSUSA Staff: I heard a rumor that you are considering moving the Midwest Championships from Shawnee, Kansas to a location in Indiana or Illinois.......any truth to this?

How about Des Moines, Iowa . It would be most centrally located.Besides Shawnee has 2 tourneys already there.

Rudy ran outstanding tournaments in Champaign. Don't know why the tourney ever left other than $$$$$. Excellent 6 field complex. You would get a bunch of teams since it is centrally located surronded by states with many teams.

Joliet Il also has a 6 field complex by the football stadium. They have tournaments for all forms of softball and associations. The problem would be getting on the schedule.

Des Moines used to have a Senior World Series about 5 yrs ago and has a nice 5 field complex in West Des Moines and a nice complex on the East side of Des Moines near the casino.

Since I'm from Southeast Michigan, I'm looking for a shorter distance than to Shawnee, Kansas.

Midwest States are: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, N.Dakota, S.Dakota, Ohio, Wisconsin.

How about we have a Midwest Championship "Eastern" and "Western"

SSUSA, just like any other business, will go where the best deal is.

How about including the Midwest Championships in the running for the "National" Championship game process?

I like the thought process Boog3434. Instead of three areas playing for the "National" championship why don't we break it into North, South, East and West regions. Then play a double elimination tournament to get the winning teams.

Guys,
My understanding is that Champaign dropped the tournament because of the fee. I believe whatever city agrees to pay the fee to SSUSA gets the tourney. I won't put what I think the fee is here on this site, but it is substantial. Bridgeton (St. Louis) is a very nice complex, but they will never pay a fee to host a tourney. I believe this fee is required by SSUSA for all of the major tourneys like the Midwest Championship. Not being critical of SSUSA, they are in business to make money.

• The "Midwest Championships" event is held in the Midwest (states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin) as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau;
• The Midwest Championships is already under contract with Shawnee, KS, for 2014;
• The format for the USA National Championship game will remain as a one-game playoff between the champions of the Eastern and Western National Championships in each age group and division at the World Masters Championships; and
• SSUSA already has a tournament for winners of the respective regional events ... That event is called the Tournament of Champions.

Will SSUSA consider another location for the Midwest Championship in 2015? A location that will draw more teams and thus more $$$$ in your pocket......
