Can a new 50 player play in the TOC with a team that has previously qualified?
What is the rule regarding adding a new player to play in the TOC in Feb? If I just became eligible to play 50's, can I play with a team that has qualified for the TOC? Thank you for your response(s).

Roster addition players for the T.O.C. must have been otherwise eligible as to age and residency during the season the team qualified to participate. A player who did not (or will not) achieve the age of 50 during the calendar year 2013 is not eligible to be added to a 50+ team for the upcoming T.O.C. You must have been born during or before 1963 to be eligible.

Again and again and again, that is just another reason why the TOC is held at an absolutely dumb time of the year. The TOC is 4 months after the previous season ended. Many teams have changed their rosters by then with additions and subtractions. Does MLB have their World Series 4 months after their 162 game schedule, which would be spring training for the next season, and after some trades or retirements have occurred? After the Vegas Worlds, the TOC should be next, the first week of November. The Phoenix Worlds and Florida Nationals should be the end of November and first week of December, or January or February. I know, this has been said all too often and fallen on deaf ears many times. Now it has been said again.

Andy, I too have voiced exactly what you've suggested now and in the past. Playing in Colorado, none of our Scrap Iron teams are in mid season form in February. Not sure how many more years SS USA is committed to having them in February in Florida but I would not see this changing until it's time for a new contract.

Brock,

You are absolutely correct. From my current knowledge of the situation, this is going to stay as it is for a very long time. I will be done playing tournaments, when the current contract expires. At this time, I only plan on playing tournaments at best for another 7 years. Even when the contract expires, it does not mean that there will not be another extension of the same. Therefore, I am accepting it the way it is and will not comment on this subject again, because it will not change.

Duke and Brock, It is my understanding also that the reason for the TOC being held in February is some kind of contract. It does seem rather obvious that it should be held in November or December with the "Winter" Nationals being held in following year ... in the winter months! The TOC is never even a consideration for us because of the time of year it is played.

I believe the 'contract' was redone during one of these thread discussions within the last 2-3 years or so. They like it, face it. Mickey Mouse beckons, lol
Hell w\ the layoff of a few months from playing or possible injuries later cause of that or even trying to get together the 'same' roster that 'earned' you thew invite, maybe even the distances some will need to go. It's only money.
Don't forget it's the TOC you'll be going to.
Dec would be better as well and moving it as a couple others are. Spread the 'wealth' and cost around as it were, teams are pretty much intact or at least closer contact with each other.

The 2014 Tournament of Champions is year #2 of a 10-year contract extension executed last year by and between SSUSA, Central Florida Sports Marketing and Polk County for the event to be held in early February in Central Florida. The Winter Nationals (Ft. Myers, Cape Coral and Naples, FL) and the Winter Worlds (Phoenix, AZ) are also under similar contracts for early and mid-November, respectively, for the foreseeable future.
