I can't see anaconda dropping by and watching you swing when you are in a slump and give advice to improve your game. A smart bat/sport equipment company should pick him up quickly. |
| Nov. 3, 2013 Big Mike 84 posts | My thinking is SSUSA didn't quite think this through far enough and what Corky gives back and does to our sport. Besides providing products to players and such, he is a source of information. He would help anyone if they had questions. He is probably one of the best good will ambassadors our sport has. If this is about economics, this is poor thinking. Anaconda has to be paying SSUSA a tidy sum to take this business. It's almost a guaranteed income and customers base of sorts. Poor decision I would say....if asked....Looks like I will be buying my stuff online from now on. I don't think it will be from Anaconda. I already bought a bat from them last year and didn't get it. But they had no problem taking the money. Just a sad state. |

I know it would have been very expensive to run, and a lot of work for Corky and the staff, but I will really miss it and seeing Corky at the tournaments. I hope the SSUSA will be able to have some product for sale at the larger tournaments, and I wish the best for Corky...one of the best ambassadors of softball. |
| Nov. 4, 2013 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Corky will defiantly be missed. We is a mainstay for senior softball. Not even making it 2 years for this part of the 'merger' as it were, says quite a bit. One thing for sure though it has to be very tough on Corkys family life. Traveling back and fourth, up and down the contiguous states has to leave a major void for home time. All that has been said is true on here and hopefully he will do something his way to keep some events as a stopping points once again. But once again another bad decision was made however by whom doesn't really matter but his family life is really more important. I'd think and the gas\diesel cost savings can now go into the credit side rather than the debit side of the ledger. But that should have been week known long ago what it was or would be. We'll miss you. Maybe Huntsman will still be on the books. Stay healthy & safe Corky. |

He even gave a ride back to the hotel from Golden Eagle to a player that had one too many up in the bar and got separated from his team (not me). Like everything now days, it seems that the personal touch is losing out to economics. |

Like Mad Dog said " Corky would give ya the shirt off his back".. well in Spring worlds this year Corky did give me a windbreaker and a tossle cap to wear while umpiring cause it was so cold.. after games I went to give back and he told me to keep them.. At World Masters he got out his batting tee, bucket of balls and the new Triad and said lets go hit some balls.. Couldn't fnd a better ambassador to the game we all LOVE.. |
| Nov. 6, 2013 ROCKO55 Men's 55 10 posts | I have known Corky since the 80"s..In fact I have played on tournament teams with Corky..He has been a great person to be around and share softball info with...He is very knowledgeable and knows about the game with the best. Corky has and still is a true gentlemen and is definitely going to be missed at these tournaments ...I sure wish him the best and hope that he entertains the game of Senior Softball...He will absolutely open the eyes of many players of the talented skills that he has...Corky hope to see you soon playing.... |

He and I always enjoyed each others company at tournaments and he was an asset to SSUSA and to Miken. He bought bats from me and I bought bats from him.
