IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT NOTICE • Senior Women’s Teams (55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+)
Due to the lack of participation by senior women’s teams (age groups 55, 60, 65 and 70), Senior Softball-USA will not be offering those divisions in the 2014 Western Nationals, 2014 Eastern Nationals and the World Masters Championships.

Women’s Masters 40 and Women’s 50 divisions will be offered in those tournaments.

SSUSA officials said the move is designed to protect the 55 and older women’s divisions who have made plans, purchased airline tickets, taken vacation time from work and made hotel reservations only to find out that there are not enough teams to play in those tournaments.

“We have seen steady growth in participation in the Women’s 40 Master Division and the 50 Division at these tournaments and will continue to offer those divisions,” said Terry Hennessy, SSUSA chief executive officer.

“If 4 or more teams in any of the senior age women’s age divisions (55, 60, 65 or 70) want to compete at the Western Nationals, Eastern Nationals, or World Masters Championships we will, of course, add that division,” said Hennessy, who emphasized that the move was designed to protect teams in those age groups from economic loss.
