Dec. 16, 2013 garyheifner 646 posts | Home run and divsion rating thoughts Be honest, most of the M+ teams and many of the M teams are carefully constructed teams with many having tryouts for the team. They build these monster teams and then complain they have no one to play. Staff: Have 3 divisions for the normal players. AA--AAA--Major Have one division of M+ Give the M+ guys what they want!! Unlimited Hrs with 7 full innings. Have each team bring a 5 gallon bucket of Trump 44/375 balls. That will be about 24 in a bucket. Place the buckets by the backstop. They will be responsible for keeping the bucket full or the game is over. Let them give imput on boundries and where they can draw from. Here is the catch, once a player opps for one of these M+ teams, they are M+ for life. I don't care if they have 8 heart attacks and 73 hip replacements, they can never move down. You will probably see very few posts from these guys. They will blast away and enjoy the game in the manner they want. NOW: AA No Hrs. DBOs-This level should be what is was meant for. AAA 1 Hr and then DBOs-The big guns can find a M team. Major 3 HRs and then DBOs-Don't like it-find a M+ team WHY: This will force real M+ hitters/players to make a decision. Do they start practicing singles hitting a little more or do they take the plunge and go M+. I think you would see more M+ teams as the better players would go for it if they had more competition. This would also get ringers out of the divisions of us normal players. Like in one of our ring tournaments, the "8" hitter walked up, turned to the manager and said what do you want me to do. He said, take the Hr now and the guy promptly hit one about 350'. I have watched quite a few M+ teams in different age groups over the recent years and Yes, Virginia, there is quite a difference in talent. With the elite guys off by themselves, the staff would have an easier time rating and keeping the competition more even and fair which is all most players ask for. |

Dec. 17, 2013 PattyMac 90 posts | GAry, I like the idea of divisions. 2 divisions : Major - 0 homeruns Major plus- 15 and a walk. Stops all the griping about homeruns and makes people decide. PattyMac |

Dec. 17, 2013 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | Gary, I would add: segregate the M+ teams on their own field or fields so their 2-3 hour games don't throw the whole tournament schedule behind. |
Dec. 18, 2013 mad dog Men's 65 4190 posts | gary like what you have said but have the hrs like this AA = 1 HR THEN DBO AAA = 3 HR THEN DBO M = 5 THEN DBO i think this is what is now and to me that would work ......maybe drop the AAA to 2 and the M to 4 ...... and yes texast make the M+ play on a field by themseleves and let them chase every ball hit out...yeah right like that'll happen..... |
