| Jan. 11, 2014 Matt43 22 posts | One up rule for 70's Playing with a 70's Major Plus team, it is rare when we are able to play against other Major Plus teams mostly because at 70 there are fewer players. The reasoning to differentiate Major Plus from Major is home run ability. However, while many of us were consistent home run hitters in our younger years, this does not carry over into the seventies. Even using the Rock, regarded as one of the best long hitting balls, we may hit 2 or 3 home runs in 6 games. Check the Tournament statistics. Home run hitting is a rarity. Many tournaments we have to give 5 runs and we play as an exhibition team. Spend money for no possibility of winning a tournament or making a tournament "all tournament team. Having played against many major teams, it seems, to me, the answer is simple. Seventies and above should go to the "one up" rule on home runs with any additional home runs, hit out of sequence, be an out. This would greatly level the playing field and allow seventy teams to play a variety of other seventy teams. Just a thought |

It's bad enough they cut games short, mix ages and ratings, DBO the excess HRs and about everything else for the 70's up, but if anything the older you get the more game like it was say in the 60-90's should be played instead of all the BS that is just getting worse every year. Playing exhibition is also a slap in the face to some extent. But their may be a few valid reasons for not winning but I can't see the justification for the all tourney part being disallowed. I'm not there 70 or close at 66, so I have no horse in that race. But the older you get the more relaxed the game should be for them. But it seems they make it even worse for them. Just my take on it all. |
