March 13, 2014 Marv19 Men's 60 498 posts | My marketing background says Reebok's brand identification is in wearables and clothing. The parent company Adidas is in the same market and not bats. Things take time after acquisition but its been a while and Im surprised it hasn't taken place already. Could be the corporate machine has finally caught up to reality. Believe it or not we, the senior market, is small potatoes to major sports corporations. Plus we demand a bat that has super pop and doesn't break in a short period of time. Considering the composition of a carbon fiber softball bat this truly is an oxymoron if there ever was one. :O) Having a product that breaks prematurely has to be a customer relations nightmare to big Corp. It takes more money, time and personnel to make it worth while. Miken has the majority share of the senior bat market. Its a product line I would have loved to have had when I sold speed equipment. High demand and it has a short programmed obsolescence. AND.... people want it anyway. Its a marketing dream come true! However after saying that I wonder how long Rawlings and Worth will stay with Miken. But then again as long as old egos buy two, three and four Mikens a year they probably wont worry too much :O) IMO |
