Code of Ethics @ Mesquite SSUSA Spring World Championships
We had a good time overall.... except when we met up with a certain team in the semi-finals. They had a couple of players who were unable to abide by the CODE of ETHICS that we all are "EXPECTED" to abide by.
Senior Softball-USA Senior Softball World Championships
CODE OF ETHICS
As a participant in a Senior Softball-USA / Senior
Softball World Championships tournament, including
Qualifiers and International Tours, I agree to conduct
myself as a gentleman or lady both on and off the
field, and that when playing I will:
Article 1: Abide by the current “Official Senior Softball
Guide and Playing Rules” to the best of my ability.
Article 2: Accept the decision of the umpires and my
team manager in good sportsmanship.
Article 3: Neither taunt nor degrade my opponent.
Article 4: Avoid bodily contact that may cause injury
to others or myself.
Article 5: Never direct abusive or profane language at
officials or opponents.
Article 6: Exercise control over my family members
and friends to the extent of Articles 3 and 5 above.
Article 7: Not commit any act that could be
considered unsportsmanlike conduct.
>> One player in particulare "BROKE" all but 2 codes in one game and had the umpires so bulley'd he was allowed to remain in the game and the tournament. The shame of it all they were "WINNING" at the time. Later in the finals, this player was duely "EJECTED" as he continued to break all the Code of Ethic'a Articles. I personally have decided "NOT" to play in any ternaments against this team. Imagine had they been loosing the game what might had happened. NOT GOING TO CHANCE IT, it is only a game.

Allegations without names does not expose this incident you have claimed. Our society seems to choose not to get involved in rightfully naming those involved for fear of retaliation. If this alleged team has players acting out and violating the Code of Ethics, then tell others. This may be a pattern of behavior that needs immediate attention from SSUSA. Don't be intimidated by the Bully, put a name and a team behind the behavior, there just might be another account of the actual events. If this situation is true I hope you and your un named team dont have to suffer through another game with these kind of alleged behaviors.

The Team was "Rocky Mtn. Extreme (NM). The player was the "Pitcher". I have since found out that he continued his "Bad" behavior into the finals and was ejected from the tournament.

After receiving numerous calls today from my friends across the country, I found out the team is from Farmington,NM, about 200 miles from Albuquerque. I'm not familiar with who is on the team, but I had played against some very good teams from there in the past, and never had a problem with something like this. I hope the situation reaches a resolution soon.

I truly beleive this issue lies directly with the "Pitcher #13" and the manager of the team for not pulling him to "cool" him off, not with the balance of the team. The team members from extreme that I chatted with during the game did not have the same issues as the Pitcher #13, they just wanted to play softball.
The other under lying issue was that the umpires stopped the game and told our team manager not to say anything but "positive" or "incouraging" comments. The issue continued without any repercusions or expulsion to the offending "winning" player.

Outsider,

Quit your whining....hell, if he was the "pitcher" your team should've grabbed your n-sacs, told him to shut the #### up and then start hitting the middle!

JMHO.....lol

When you posted this, I am sure you expected at least one response like the one from Adiktiv6-nonsense. Gotta think an agressive retaliation by your team would have led to a parking lot confrontation later which I have seen before.

Congrats on keeping your cool and your continued play by the code. I have only run into one such similar siuation over the 12 years I have played in SSUSA. Your situation was a total failure by the umps and the TD.

#13 might want to think if he really wants to continue in senior softball as Terry and Dave have no problem with banning/suspending players who mock the code.

I agree Gary, the umpires and TD are there to keep the players from having to take matters into their own hands. Going middle just escalates the situation and feeds the conflict. Trying to hurt someone is never the answer to any Senior Softball problems.

I was not there but hope there is follow up for #13, as well as for the umpire(s), if indeed it was that bad. It sounds legitimate if "13" was eventually ejected from the tourney.

So, I read the COE for SSUSA and no where did it say one cannot hit the middle!! Add the mandatory face mask into the equation and I am fine with my statement! Never been one to cower from bullies! Sometimes a little reminder will put them in their place and clam down the situation! If not, hit the middle a few more times!

I like tightline's response!

Mr Heifner seems to live in the obamanation, as he will keep drawing a red line then keep moving it back! sigh!!!

God Bless American!!

titanhd,

Who said anything about "willful intent"?? I just said hit the middle, said nothing about hitting the pitcher! But, you will read into the statement what you will! Seems to me that "pitcher 13" brought whatever he got or would get onto himself, anyway!!

My question is ..... did Terry and/or Dave take any action against #13 as they would have no problem in doing so, or did they just draw a red line ?

Grown 50+ year old men acting, thinking and responding like kids. It's really sad.

titanhd,

Since when is getting a hit up the middle not part of the game? Always has been and always will be...

How is that acting, thinking and responding like kids? Oh, and "kids" hit the middle.....a lot!!

And why do "Grown 50+ year old men" have to change the way we play softball?

But really, I think we shouldn't even keep score and all of us should get trophies at the end of the tournament, too! Don't want anyone's feeling to get hurt....after all, it's "just a game"!!

sheesh....It's really sad what this is game becoming in some peoples mind??

OK guys, hell with the game. Let's go middle and send a message. Bob and Joe, I know you are pull hitters with great power. but go middle. Lenny and Richie, you are machines and hit .800 to right field, but lets go middle. Forget what we do best. Let's get/show this guy. Maybe we can come back in the losers bracket. You send the best message by beating them soundly, shaking hands and let their team decide if this is the kind of player they want to go through a season with. I remember a few years back after the opening game of the Indy Classic a team sent a guy packing and not for his lack of ability.

sheesh Heif, No one is telling EVERYONE to start hitting the middle! Bob and Joe, keep pulling the ball, Lenny and Richie, keep hitting to the right!! Keep doing what you guys do best!! Leave the middle to Larry, Moe and Curly! They'll get the job done!!

Really, how many players go at the pitcher with the intent of getting a piece of him? Most hit to the right or to the left of him, or hit the ball over his head just out of his reach....

Maybe in Heif's softball world, hitting backside isn't fair either, tho, just like hitting middle, it is part of the game! I would put money on this...Heif is one of these guys that would like it to be mandatory that the pitcher has to pitch behind a screen! Oh well, to each his own!

Nope, your wrong. Don't like the screen. I pitch half the games-rest at other positions. Just put on my helmet, cup and shin guards. In fact, I am not just good defensively, I am freggin awesome. I can hit anywhere, leap tall buidings in a single bounce, the sidewalk cracks when I spit on it and eat nails for a snack.

I do take serious offense at something you did say. You can say something about my wife-mother or softball ability and it would bounce off. But to compare me to Obama in anyway is way over the line!!!

Heif, you old "Playboy" you!

I would NEVER say anything about or towards your wife or your mother!! And I do apologize for the Obama remark.....that was a very low blow!!

I like a Superman and one who's confident enough to admit he's Freggin Awesone!! I knew once I got to know you, I would like you!!

Sounds like this pitcher is a douche bag. That means he was a douche bag when he was young and he is obviously a douche bag in his later years.
That doesn't say much for his teammates who allow him to act like that.

Fortunately this #13 is neither someones mother or wife... I would never hit the guy but buzzing the tower a time or two tends to change someones perspective...
