March 26, 2014 Big Mike 84 posts | Just want to say a BIG Thank You...... Thank you to all of you fellow senior players and Vendors who have donated some wonderful equipment to the Wounded Warriors PNW. If you could see their faces when they get something they don't have or something in a lot better shape than they already have....it's like a kid with a new toy. It's like who gets to use the new stuff first. Man, I have a wonderful wife. My Military retirement all goes to these guys and gals. As long as I don't use the credit card, she lets me do whatever I want. Think I will keep her for a few more years. Again, Thank you, all of you! But I REALLY want to give a shout out to Alan Tanner of Team1 Sports and Rev Judi at Wintercrest. They have gone above and beyond. It's an Honor to know them. 1st Sgt. March 27, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2413 posts | Big Mike-is there going to be a place in Las Vegas in April where we can take equipment to donate? I have a couple new bat bags that I could donate. And, if so, could you list some needs you might have so guys that want to can help? |
March 27, 2014 Big Mike 84 posts | Sorry Webbie. Las Vegas is a no show for me or any of the players this year. We had planned to go and say Hi, meet a lot of guys, let the guys hang out with other players but it has become FUBAR. The bat bags are a great idea but Honestly, we use Army reclaimed duffels. And they work well for us. What we can use most are..... 44/375 softballs ANY gloves..playing or batting and of course BATS! We always need bats. We were hoping a vendor or manufacturer would step up, A couple guys already sent bats and they are being well played...:)...almost to the point of trying to remember what color they were originally. Some of these guys have the upper body strength of a Mule. And we play in all weather, hot, cold, rain.....they don't care..they just wanna play. And it gets them out and off the ward for a few hours. You wouldn't believe the transformation that has come over these soldiers. For a few hours EVERYDAY, they can forget everything and just be guys, not patients, playing softball. |
