Do you use a Heavy/Warm up ball
Evil Sports just released an alternative to the Cannon ball called the Evil Heavy. Its a 12 inch leather covered 12oz softball. We went with 12oz as it is the optimum weight for warming up a shoulder.
Get them here, http://www.evilsports.com/product.php?productid=16285

Sorry BB, I have a couple of teammates that have a Cannon Ball. We usually use them before practice and games.

Weighted balls are not only good for shoulder muscles but are excellent for breaking in a new gloive.

Bobby, I have used the orange Cannonball for years and years. I throw 25 times with it before a game and then go to the normal softball 25 times before we start a game. The only concern I have (and it is not major) is that it is a different size than a normal softball. I also use the Cannonball in the local school gym and throw it off of a concrete block wall to bounce ground balls back to me when training for a tourney.

Tell me more about your product please.

Ed, the Evil Heavy is a 12 oz softball with a leather cover, its the same size and feel as a game ball. That being said I dont see it being used for wall ball training.

I used it before bp on Saturday and again last night before our league game. Everyone that took a few tosses with it agreed that it looks great and it seems to have the right weight, not nearly as heavy as the Cannon Ball.
I agree with your earlier post "Evil Heavy will be the end of Cannon Ball for softball."
Thanks again!

weighted ball is great for pre-season, pre-game and shoulder rehab.

2 warnings

1. Don't throw hard it's not for that.

2. Don't bounce it on concrete and look down. It is like a super ball. Dispite my warning two team members did it and recieved a bloody nose and cut lip.

Gary, I echo your thoughts about throwing it hard. Use the Evil Heavy for soft toss only. Dont muscle up on it or try to chuck it 80, you will do damage.
Now I cant agree with your second point and quite the contrary, The Evil Heavy is NOT a rubber ball and it does not bounce like one either. Since its a leather cover heavy ball you would only be prematurely aging it by throwing it the wall or the ground.

Bruce, thanks for being our tester.

Hey Bob. Warmed up with Evil Heavy before practice Sunday with Pace teammates. All really liked the weight and feel. We'll pass it around town too. No arm or shoulder strain at all. Great prep for long toss. Thanks.

Bobby, Please send me one. I will show it to my teammates in Vegas next week at SW Shootout. I will use my Cannon for wall toss and use the Evil for tourney and league warmup. I have found that playing the outfield, I need a specific warm up routine so as not to blow out my arm in an early throws from deep outfield plays.

I leave for Vegas next Monday. Perhaps you could call me. Appreciate it.
Thanks,

Bob - The EVIL HEAVY ball is excellent! I have passed mine around at tourneys and leagues over the past month and almost everyone who warms up with it really likes the feel of this one. From first throws to long toss it's become a routine. We thought it would be great for the early season but we'll continue to use it through the year. Hope some of the guys I've given the info to have gotten to you. One is not enough...Thanks.
