Las Vegas Field Assignments
SSUSA Staff, thanks for posting the Reno field assignments. When will the field assignments for Las Vegas be posted. This info would be helpful in determining were we stay in Vegas. Last year the 60-Majors played out at Shadow Rock, hopefully we are a lot closer to Henderson this year.

REPRINT from previous identical request on Friday: Within a few days after the close of the entry deadline on April 8th ... We should have them determined and posted here by Friday, April 11th ...

SSUSA,

At the very least, this is a weak response to Sweet P's inquiry. He didn't ask for game schedules, but merely tentative field assignments as you've already done for Reno...which is two months away. Teams are simply trying to coordinate lodging accommodations based on possible playing locations. As an example, if you book at South Point and end up at Shadow Rock, a 20 mile drive each way awaits you. Not good.

C'mon man! I think you can do better by your customer base.

Rock 'n Reno is a "known commodity" for us, and the rotations are pretty much set based on an almost identical number of teams by age/by division from year to year ... The Southwest Championships differs from Reno in that regard ... This event is growing significantly and there's no way to accurately assign fields until after the team (and game) count and related divisional mix is determined ... "...on or before April 11th..." is still the target ...

Dave, Fran, George, Giovanni, or whoever penned this,

I understand that this is only the 3rd year of the Southwest Championships being held in Vegas after years in Laughlin. Historical data shows 112 and 144 teams participated for years 2012 and 2013. I haven't done the research, but I would guess SSUSA would be safe to assume 130 to 150 teams max, and you pretty much know which age divisions are larger draws. You could certainly put out "tentative" field locations. In my experiences over the years, tentative field locations haven't changed, at least for the age/division I play in.

Just sayin' and JMO

As Many locations as there is to stay in Las Vegas I would not worry about it. I would bet a few chips that you will not have a problem getting rooms close to the fields that you are playing at once the field assigniments are out. Just another one of us senior criers wanting something to cry about.

I drive more than 20 miles for my league games. It sure will not bother me to drive 20 to play. I am not sure it is 20 miles from Shadow rock to any of the fields that they will be playing on.

Garocket,

Some people care, others like yourself could care less about how many miles they have to drive to play. You drive 20 miles to play league ball, you're a better man than me. I live in LA so 20 miles in our traffic blows, understood it's a choice I make.

As for rooms, Eastside Cannery (where we've booked) is already sold out, just to throw it out there.

As for the driving distance from South Point to Shadow Rock, I Google Mapped the two addresses, so there you go.

Apparently, you can't ask SSUSA for anything without it being construed as crying...in your opinion. Gimme a friggin' break dude!

Well if you have already booked why worry about where you are playing. Are you going to change Motels if your fields are two far away?

Not being smart, just a question.

Garocket,

Not worried about it, just curious. I'm a detail guy and just like to know things. As for your question about lodging we will be keeping our rooms regardless of where we're playing.

How about this...would you order a steak and not ask how it's cooked, book a rental car and not care whether you got a Economy or Full Size, book a room for you and a teammate to share and not care whether you get two queen beds or one king?

It doesn't cost a thing to ask. Just sayin

Well the field assignments are now posted, thanks SS-USA staff. Just one question, the 60-Major division is back at Shadow Creek again this year. I was led to believe last year that the 60-Majors would be at a different location (closer to Las Vegas site)this year? It would be nice to play at least every other year at Arroyo Grande or Big League Dreams.

SweetP ... We performed on our promise to not have you at the same facility for this year's Southwest Championships ... The 60-Majors played at Big League Dreams all three days last year during the 2013 Southwest Championships, as did the 60-Major+ and 60-AAA (two of three days) ...

Of the teams assigned to BLD later this month, the 40-Major+, 50-AAA and 55-Major did not play at BLD in either Las Vegas tournament last year, and the 50/55-AA there only for Championship Sunday of last year's World Masters ... It was actually more about the mathematics of fields vs. teams/games/league restrictions that led to this year's assignments at BLD ... But it WAS a bonus that the assigned teams were the ones who had gone the longest since their last appearance at BLD ... Seems like a very fair arrangement from our perspective ...

Dave, my bad! You are correct we played at BLD last April 2013 and Shadow Rock in the 2013 World's in September. Looking forward to playing some place other than Shadow Rock at this years World.

Thanks for your quick response.

SS-USA, tbis tournament starts next Friday morning for the 40 thru 60 divisions, so when can we expect the schedules/brackets to be posted? The schedules/brackets for the 65 and over divisions were posted this pass Monday.
