Miken BIG CAR Ultra tested today!
Hey guys,
I got in the new Big Cat from Miken and quickly headed out to the field today. I have to mention that it was HOT and HUMID today with the field temperature at 85 degrees and a slight wind blowing in.
I was able to get about 60 swings in on the bat and here are some quick observations:

The bat is VERY end loaded so you end load lovers...are going to like that. We have 1.5 ounces out on the end so you do get the "sledge hammer" effect.
Just don't try to over swing the bat...let the end load pull the barrel through and swing smoothly and you will get good results. When I would hit one good, many times I would try and "hit it a mile" on the next swing but "loading up" is not necessary nor productive with the swing weight on this bat.
The Big Cat is basically the 2 piece shell of the Triad Blackout WITH. A substantial 1.5 ounce end load. You guys that have swung the very balanced Blackout will immediately feel this is a totally different animal. From the tech side coming from a bat geek like myself:
Expect a quicker break in than the Blackout but not as fast as the standard U2 or the 2pc U2.
Expect a larger sweet spot especially towards the end of the bat AFTER break in.
Expect a durable very end loaded bat that delivers very good performance...
These are some of my PREDICTIONS from experience and from hitting today. I will post more after I am able to hit more with the bat but today's session was very promising. I will say that guys who are true balanced bat lovers may not enjoy the extreme end weight. The end loaded guys will like it but there is a possibility that some guys may want to drop an ounce as compared to other bats in this class. Very promising performance with my limited hitting today...stand by for more to come. Feel free to call me with questions at 561-718-7504.

Obviously...I missed on the spell check. Gorilla bot did not invent a new CAR....just a new bat! My fault on that one!

The bat is actually not a Triad Blackout Frame. This bat is the Ultra Maxload (WHITE), with a half oz more enload in it. The Ultra Maxload is .5 oz of endload. The BIG CAT is a Supermax endload which is 1 full oz. The ONLY bat in our lineup of bats that carries a 1.5 endload is the Kevin Filby USSSA Ultra max. Keep in mind guys, all of the 2 piece senior bats utilize Triad Technology.

SO, Maxload = .5 oz Supermax or Big Cat = 1 oz Ultra max = 1.5oz

You will see this as standard with our bats in all associations.

The bat also doesn't swing as heavy as you think. Alan might be right in some players moving back an oz but for all of you that have been asking for a heavier bat, stay true and you should be fine.

Those of you looking for a video this is the only one posted so far. I am very excited about this bat and after the testing I have done on it, I am happy to say it lives up to the signature that is on it. This Ultra II Macenko bat is a great addition to our Ultra II line and will be a popular model in 2014. Alan will have them, Anaconda Sports, Direct Sports, Classic Logos, Kelly's, Softball Bat Club etc. Contact them today for a pre order!

Have a great season guys!

AP,
You beat me to the punch! I was going to update my posting with the corrected info as I confused some emails together! Thanks for further clarifying the construction for us.... As a swing update...Adam is correct in his assessment of the actual swing weight of the bat....it feels a little heavier than it swings but boy that ounce end weight comes through nicely. I should have mentioned yesterday's session came after a couple cardio workouts in the sun and a gym workout which took a little out of me before the testing began! It's darn hot down here today but the bat sings much more fluidly without all thee bating up on myself yesterday. The sweet spot is starting to expand on the bat and you can feel that slight barrel flex when you hit one square. Very solid feeling up and down the hitting surface.....overall, another big winner in the Miken lineup for us end load guys. Stay tuned for more in the coming days..
Adam, thanks for the input....

Big Cat Update....
We played up in Georgia this past weekend so I took the Big Cat up with me to show it around and let guys demo it. It started with 60 swings on it. Let me tell you this....at 75 swings the bat absolutely changed and became a full on BEAST. Even with beat up bp balls guys that we let hit it were absolutely smashing it. Let me just say that with the players response to the feel and performance of this bat, I just emailed Miken to hopefully double my order as I need more to go around! Can't wait to get them in this week and continue hitting with them. Get with me with any questions about the bat at 561-718-7504.

Will this bat have a 90 day warranty?

And about how much will the bat sell for?

Alan, I watch most of your first two games on Saturday. Some of the hr's were impressive.
Is it true that the two 50M+ lost 3 out of 4 rr games to major teams?
Seems like there isn't much difference in the divisions. I should add that Doc C's was given an extra fielder.

Bruce,
We did not play well at all this week either offensively or especially defensively. In fact our team was laughing so hard when we had to vote on the Defensive Player award and we could not figure out who to give it to. My first response was to give it to our catcher but he piped up and said " I can't take it, I threw 3 balls in the s****er trying to throw it back to the pitcher!" So then I said, raise your hand if you caught more than 4 balls this weekend....
We laughed even harder when we had trouble finding someone to give it to. No excuses...every team we played was a team of excellent players and they beat us. The competition level there was very good and we love to play under those situations win or lose. Congratulations to the teams that won, they deserved it!
