Thank-You Dave & Tommy
Playing in Vegas this weekend. There was an umpire doing games at BLD, whom i say as a former umpire displayed very unprofessional behavior in his game prior to & during my teams games. With 2 out a big man busted his butt getting down the line and clearly was past the bag. The umpire called him out. Everyone watching knew he was safe. When asked to seek help he smile and said he made the call. It didn't effect the outcome. Then we took the field. Our pitcher threw a pitch to a batter who was about 6'4", about a foot over his head. It was called illegal. He then voice to my team in the field "I don't like hight pitches". Forcing our pitcher to groove the ball. Then a few batters later. The batter ran up on a pitch and hit the ball and was clearly out of the box. When asked if he was going to call the out, he stated he wasn't going to make the call a batter out for being out of the box. His counterpart in converstion with me couldn't believe what he was doing. We won the game, however this needed to be address. I then spoke with Dave who was TD, who asked me to speak with the UIC Tommy. They both listened to my concerns, and the next day I was informed the issue was addressed. From my observations the umpire was no longer in the park working. I want it know that when a concern is presented SSUSA hears us and acts.. Thank-You Dave & Tommy.

I would like to add that I had a concern for an umpire on his lack of professionalism as well. We were playing at BLD and I was having a snack in the concessions indoors. I saw Tommy walk by and asked him if he had a moment Not only did Tommy stop, he listened to what I had to say and didn't act like he was in a hurry. I know he is very busy, however, the interpersonal relationship skills he showed to me were in a manner that made me feel that he cared, and he does. He said he would investigate the matter, and I totally believed him. He has umpired many of our games in the past and is one of the best umpires that I believe SSUSA has. Thank you Tommy for your professionalism and unselfish character.
