60 Major Platinum Division

Winners: Suncoast Sunrays 6 and 0
Sunrays All Tournamant:
Whiteacker
Pope
Ketchem
Phillips

Second: The Villages 5 and 3
Third: Naples Heat 5 and 3

The Villages went Head to Head 3 times in 6 games with the Sunrays, All 3 games were war. With a lot of runs scored it was a long final day of softball.
Naples had a couple guys hurt and it slowed them down
in the final few games.
Villages and Sunrays had several extra players that ran
many times to keep their players fresh. My "Hats Off" to these guys for being their and running hard all day without getting much playing time.
Both are great clubs and I am sure will meet in "Wars" thru 2007.
Sorry I am not like Rabbit and can post oll the scores of every game :)
Nice to see you again Rabbit, till 2007, "Stay Safe"

Congrats to all of the Winners of the "SPA Winner Worlds"

Congrats Charlie on you All Tournament selection and your team's championship!

Our team, Allstate Miken won the 55+ Platnum Division defeating Connecticut SprotSplex. We caught them flat but in the bottom of the 7th of the last game they showed how well they can hit. Thank goodness we had a large lead as they must have batted around 2 1/2 times comming up 2 runs short.

We'll see everyone in Ft. Meyers!

Gentlemen, I want to thank all who participated in the 4 days of the tournament for the high level of sportsmanship and to congratulate all on their competitive spirits. I was at Greco for the 4 days of play and enjoyed the cameraderie and watching good competitive softball.

I was also good to see all of you Florida Half Century people out there and I look forward to seeing you all in Lakeland next weekend and Ft. Myers the weekend after that.

Rabbit, constructive criticism is always welcome. Just remember, anyone can stand off to one side and complain and point out problems, true team players suggest a solution to the issue while pointing it out. Nuff said, you're a credit to the game of softball.

Charlie, Dave North, Frank and the Naples Group, it was good to see all of you at the park.

Hi BossBandit, thank you for the kind words, I try to spread the word on senior softball, and sometimes I get a little out of control on certain subjects, I am a little opinionated sometimes for my on good, but you usually know where I stand . My main concern is just having a level playing field, and I am not afraid to play anyone, but hate to go to a tourney knowing you do not have a chance to win, we have a limited budget and my players pay a lot of money as most players do for travel and hotels, they are the ones I am trying to protect. so if I complain too much, I am sorry about that.
But at this time i want to say that Ridge Hooks has made it right after the Winter Worlds, and I am now back in his corner for SPA, he was sick and was not able to be in Tampa, and some decisions were made that would not have happened if he was there, even thou the Ones that were there did there very best, under the circumstances, my main concern was that we were the only AAA team in the 50's and were put in the upper bracket with the major Plus teams, we played very well in the tourney (4-2), so it put them in a perdicament( didnt really know where to put us) but still never really had a chance to beat the two big teams, even thou we gave one a run for their money, But Monday Ridge called me and said he was going to make it right, I said he didnt have too, that we were ok, but he insisted and i thank him, and now I am saying I am sorry for any comments about the tourney ,which on the whole was well ran. .
the last days scores in case anyone wants to know were
lemay contracting 22 --------Indiana Classics 17
i do not know who won the final game between them and Estes Bail Bond, for the Platinum division Champs,
in the other division, Pensacola Merchanrts beat the Moose/Broward 16-15,for the Silver Division Champs
We were the Gold Division Champs and C & D Transport were the Runner-ups,

Thanks again, Ridge, look forwrd to your tourneys next year,

Bruce, congrats on your teams victory.
Hope to see you again in SSUSA Ft Myers.

Boss, great job of umping and having Greco in such good shape. It was tons better than Radics. Radis was cut short in the infeild and a little rough.

Rabbit, I understand where you were coming from and I concur completely. But the TD's I though did a very good job considering the rain Friday night. Radis was always low and rain don't drain well. Greco was in great shape except for 1 outfield which was very rough. They played the winners bracket game for 60 major on it while 2 other fields were unused and tons better shape.

Over all I though it was ran better than most.
Umps were very good and directors were great.

Congrats to all the winners
Ridge, hope you feel better.

Charlie, It's always good to see you at the park or wherever. Was also glad to see a lot of the other people there from my Florida Half Century experiences. Looking forward to seeing most of them this weekend coming or in Ft. Myers in another week. Fields at Greco were in good shape except for a couple of the outfields. Hope we'll have Radice in shape by next year as I understand that is becoming a priority, maybe. Just trying to start a rumor and see if anyone pays attention.

I had a great time umpiring and there were, as usual, only a couple of people without a sense of humor but we managed to work with them, also. Looking forward to doing more SPA in the state of Florida in the coming year. Hang in there.
