July 21, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | Rubber bat knob In the past, I was able to purchase a rubber bat end knob that stretched over the end of the bat. Several places, like Kelly, sold this type of knob, but no longer! This is NOT a cuff that slides onto the handle (there are lots of those on the market). Batters who use an overlap grip like these as the end of the bat knob fits into the palm of your hand. I can't seem to find this end knob anywhere any more. I think the company that made them was called batknob.com or something like that. They used to have a web site, but it's gone now. Does anyone know a source for this type of knob or what happened to the company that used to make them? Thanks. |

July 25, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | Thanks, Duke and Bomber23 for your ideas. I've looked at all the sports stores I go into, including Sports Authority and Play it Again Sports. I've also goggled like crazy and searched ebay. I did order one from ebay that might substitute for the one I bought several years ago. If not, I'm also considering getting new ones made by a local rubber company. Thanks again. Bart Prieve |

July 26, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | I only see cuffs at the Softball Store. Cuffs are positioned on the handle, inside the knob. I'm trying to find rubber bat knobs that cover the end of the bat completely, like the ones I used to be able to buy. Still looking, but thanks for the suggestion. |

Aug. 19, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | An update: I've followed-up on every lead, and still can't find the one I've been looking for, sooooo . . . I've learned how to make a mold from an old knob I still have, and now I've been able to cast several new ones that seem to be good. I've had to experiment with several mold materials and casting rubber materials, but I think I have a good mold and have identified a good rubber that is actually more flexible than the original. It has been an interesting learning experience that took several less than favorable attempts! |
Aug. 19, 2014 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | I've seen them at Sports Auth and Dicks awhile back. Might try their web sites. |

Aug. 19, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | Thanks taits. I've tried these, too, in days gone by. Not quite what I like. |
Aug. 19, 2014 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Which type are you looking for cont or tapered there are quite a few different ones out there. |
Aug. 20, 2014 bprieve 21 posts | I'm looking for the end knob made of a rubber that completely covers the end and adds some bulk above that. They used to be sold by several of the sporting goods dealers, but the manufacture apparently went out of business several years ago. I think them were called batknob.com or something like that. But don't worry: I've been able to make a mold from an old one I have and can now cast them myself out of rubber. |

Aug. 21, 2014 DieselDan Men's 75 600 posts | The knob that bprieve uses is similaar to this picture , but rubber. It's almost the size of a racquetball, but of harder rubber. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Hickory-Vintage-Series-Baseball-Bat-Ballhandle-Knob-/161061905851?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item258009a5bb |

Aug. 22, 2014 Clean Up 68 posts | If it's anything like the picture DieselDan posted. No wonder they are not being sold anymore. Not much demand for a useless thing like that on the end of a bat? |
Aug. 22, 2014 Home Plate 35 posts | Can't figure out why anybody wants it. Looks like a worthless piece of junk.... |
Aug. 22, 2014 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | D...Dan, Do not remember ever seeing on of those, probably for a good reason. LOL he might take a tennis ball and cut it place silly putty inside, and mold it to the knob. will look about the same at least. I can see why he might like it though. Hand palm over it allowing for slightly more leverage if it doesn't come off in the swing follow through. I use a thick weight lifers glove for that because it fills the gap between the pinky finger and the knob depending on the handle (thickness) size. |
Aug. 22, 2014 0 70 posts | I doubt those stupid looking things are legal. They extend the over all length of the bat beyond 34 inches. SSUSA Staff....Input please! |
Aug. 22, 2014 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | As for length being 34". I've been told there is a 'variation' or a word to that effect for that which is roughly 1\8 inch... IMO that is still over the 34" so go figure on size limits.... However, maybe it's like speed limits... But sure see your point. |
