Short Term Fixes For Cracked Bats

The other day I saw a guy that had a cracked bat. What he did to the crack was drill small holes at each end of the crack. He told me he filled the small holes with 3M Marine glue so as to evidently get some glue on the inside of the barrel and then filled the whole crack with the glue. After a few days he sanded the outside barrel glue to be smooth with the rest of the bat. He claims the bat will last for about a hundred or more batting practice hits. Does anybody out there know if this really works?

This would probably be considered an altered bat.
BP only if it does work.

Would that happened to have been in the Sac area?
