Is there prejudice in softball?
I just finished watching 12 years a slave and it brought me much sadness to see how the African American people had to endure such mistreatment. Even after 150 years since this event occurred I see how some feel that fear of prejudice. I know people of all color have experienced prejudice and I really feel so sad for our culture here in America and the world that we show a mistrust of each other. I wish we could look past color and just accept each other as Human beings. This is what I teach the children at my two schools that all are equal and have the same rights. Maybe I am wishful thinking BUT I really believe this. It is with much sadness that I tell you of an event that occurred today while playing in AZ at the last chance tournament. I walked up to a player I have known for 11 years and have played with him on the same team my first year as a senior 50 player. I understand that this guy has had health issues the past year and I was really glad to see that he had returned to the playing field. I told him I wanted to give him a hug and he refused, I was surprised and asked him if he was kidding and he said know that he would not hug a white man. To be honest this blew me away. I said a quick prayer and headed to the plate.I hope he was not serious but he never came back and told me any different. It does not matter what culture he is and I have no desire to start a problem but again I was really hurt by this. To me I love playing softball because I have the chance to make new friends. God has blessed me so much in life and I really feel like I have no hate for any person in this world. Not liking someone because they are different than myself or others is really STUPID. I AM NOT A PERFECT GUY BUT AS A CHRISTIAN I DO TRY TO WATCH WHAT EXAMPLE I SHOW TO OTHERS. I SAID TRY BECAUSE SOMETIMES I FAIL ON THE FIELD VERY BAD. Thank you Senior softball for giving me the chance to play at 61 and make new friends. Life is so short and a illness can hit any of us at any moment and change our life. When this occurs our friends become even more of a blessing. Thanks and RESPECT TO ALL OF YOU. GI

This idiot is just as bad as a KKK member you should let everyone know who he is.
No matter your skin color everyone is the same and if you don't believe this you deserve to be vilified. You my friend are a better man than I.Everyone would know who this SCUMBAG IS if it happened to me.

As Dr Martin L. King said, the only way to fight hate is with love. I still am hoping that he was not serious.I have no desire to name names. Thanks for all of comments. ( Keep Cisco AZ player and a great guy) in all your prayers I hear that we need to let him know we love him and that he is in our prayers with his medical situation. Bless you Cisco, Pulling for you. No prejudice here. I hate everyone equally.
