Wow. Another better than the rest Senior bats and we as fools will by it. I got few friends that still have senior bats in the wrapper, because they buy the next great one before they get a chance to use the old great one. LOL. Guys a senior bat is a senior bat 300 feet is the same a 400 feet. Wait a year and you get a great senior bat at very good discount.

Tri18 You state "the new handle fusion makes all the difference in the world in this bat" Can you elaborate more? Have them controlled handle flex better or eliminated it?

I have been a miken guy for years. There bats were great just no durability . Now I swing the dudley they have created a great bat with plenty of pop an durability like no other senior bat. Sorry miken you could of made this new bat before a great bat came out. This is just my opinion guys I love the fact the bat companies are trying to make a better bat it's about time.

So what makes this bat so different from the Miken Triad other than a longer warranty?

My Miken Triad Blackout still hasn't broke in yet.
Hundreds of hits and still not impressed.
I wonder if this new Miken is the Triad Blackout but with a different name, new paint job and 1 year warranty?

Guys these bats are for real. No joke.
My teammates and I on Rancid/ Miken Sports swung this bat during the tournament and had great success right out of the wrapper. The ball was flying off the bat after just a few swings. As far as I'm concerned the bat is going to be a great success. The one year warranty is another great reason to buy this bat. We are video taping our reviews showing how the bat performs. Even a few older guys are hitting it with very good success.

Thanks,

but I have to disagree with the Ambush being a high performance bat and the Miken Big Cats have a little durability issue. The newer Mikens with warranty will be more durable and they are designed to used by the power hitters that have very serious durability issues. If you don't break bats in a short amount time the warranty does matter but performance does. Why purchase a log that won't break in the year that you buy it if it won't perform ?

By the way I was told by a Miken that these new warranty bats are for guys that have durability issues, so they would have something to swing, not designed for the average player. The 2 piece bats were a better option for the average player. But we all know everybody now days is a power hitter. I expect the bat to last me 1 season if longer it's a bonus.

Why not give it a try if you are a two-piece guy, and the swing weight is similar to your gamer and you take a lot of BP. The bottom line especially for the 50's and 60's power hitter's that are break breakers, you pay retail that is $120 for two bats, they will only replace only one. Who knows it may become your gamer.

That would be the key if you break it? I just don't see taking a whole lot of time to breaking in a bat which becomes a great bat after you exceed the warranty period. This to me seems to be same as a bat which breaks in quickly and breaks in about a year. By the way the information I was given on the new bat came straight from a VP at Miken.

They had 600 Dudleys for sale at LV last weekend and sold all of them except about 5 26oz bats, I am sure what that means to you but I do know what it means to me.

We received our bat prior to LV, maybe the sales model was that they already had commitment on pre order sales so let's increase sales by selling the additional bats at LV. The customer service might be a stretch, let's wait and see what happens from here moving forward. JMO

If I ever wear out my Combat Centenarian I am gonna have to get me one of these miracle bats. The old CC will still launch a ball out of park. It is 3 years old now. I am waiting for it to go to that next level everyone talks about.

Congrats to Harris Auction for winning 75 AAA in Vegas.

Just thought I would follow up with everyone in regards to the new Miken Freak Black. This morning a few team guys had BP butting about 400-500 swings on this bat. After the first 50-60 swings the bat started to open up. Line drive after line drive and bomb after bomb this bat feels great and performs awesome!!! We had a guy who is 69 years old hitting the ball 300' plus. After we get 500 hits on this bat I will let you all know the latest.

LeeLee50,,, you got me curious. A Miken VP informed you? Pretty sure I was the only one with info on the bat in Vegas and brought the only 6 in known existance with me. And if that VP was me (which I am not) that conversation didn't happen. The bat is great for all players, and designed to withstand the newer 40 to 50 and over market to the point that we backed it up with a 1 year warranty. Obviously the Dudley is the new bat out with plenty of hype and it should have some. It is a good bat. I have tested it next to all of our senior bats and it will surely be competition. Nice part about competition is the pressure it can put on other companies to develop new technologies and that is when my job is the most fun. You all know Miken for performance so I was very excited during the testing of the Freak Black. I am even more happy with the final product. Follow the reviews as they come in. Those 6 demos that were down in Vegas went with a large range of players and Anaconda had the bats the following week for resale. Alan will have them if he doesn't already. I only brought the bats for demo as the stores already had their orders in. The bench mark for performance is the Ultra IIs, so if we can get this bat to you with durability and the fact that for many players it will be just as good, yet still have a warranty I am excited about that.
It was great to see a bunch of you down there in Vegas and it was great to put many faces with names that I have dealt with for years. I watched some awesome games down there guys,, to the point where I cannot wait to hit my 50s!!! Good luck everyone. We got a new stick for you all to try and we backed it with a warranty. Great performance, great durability, great bat and it has an M on it. Contact your stores as we made sure they have the inventory ASAP. Adam Peterson, National Promotions Manager Miken Sports

Question for Adam,

Why can't Miken produce a bat like the 2002-2003 Ultra II? I am in my second year playing senior ball. My 2003 Ultra II had over 2000 swings on if before it cracked. My first Ultra II in senior ball I got around 200 swings on it before it cracked. I have and everyone else I know that swings them doesnt get many cuts out of them as most other senior bats as well. Just curious I can't believe today's technology is inferior to what Miken had in 2003. Thanks for your response!!

Lewis,, I was down there for the opening weekend and left on that Sunday. I wasn't there when Big Mike was set up. Curious as to who would have been there calling themselves a rep. Might be the same scenerio above where another person was thought of as a VP.lol I had Johnny Bailey there who is a KO rep along with Ronni Salcedo. Otherwise I had some players that stick to our products and left some bats with a few guys to try out.
Ib16, those were days before I was an employee here. I was a sponsored player back then and went through a ton of U2s as a player. I know there are some out there that seem to last forever but there was at the same time a ton that broke early. They aren't spoken about near as much because those days are so long ago. Not to mention the market was all about breaking a bat in back in those days. That Ultra 2 out of the wrapper was not even close to the new U2 bats these days. Years ago we did a Ultra II Legacy bat that started out stiffer but broke in to be a great bat that performed like a U2. NOBODY BOUGHT IT. Everyone wants a bat that is hot from the start without putting the time in to break in. So, now you see all manufacturers putting out products that are hot ASAP. You lose durability going with this as we can't have both worlds. So, the Freak Black is a happy medium that should go over well. Hotter out of the wrapper than the previous Triad Blackout. Better sweetspot, and handle designed specific for the barrel to create a better break in, with a 1 year warranty. Maybe 10 years from now we will have a couple black U2s that show up in a garage and we can call them durable too.lol The 50 and over market is much more health conscious too in terms of fitness. That to me says this Freak Black could be the ticket for many of you.

Adam,

Thanks for your response I don,t remember the old Ultra II's taking long to break-in, but at the time out of the wrapper they were far superior than anything out there those days. Hopefully Miken's new black will be a happy medium I think your post was correct with more durable bats that are pretty good out of the wrapper coming out all bat companies will eventually have to put one out to compete. As of now I have picked up a Dudley Lightning hopefully it will live up to the hype as of now I am impressed with it so far time will tell.

Again Thanks!!

lb16's experience was similar to mine. Bought an Ultra II in 2003 and have used it ever since! Use it for batting practice as well as tournaments. Probably have 5000+ hits on it and it is still going. I'm not a power hitter, but hit hard enough that I have several home runs every season. And my Ultra II was also hot out of the wrapper. It might have gotten marginally better, but it was already outhitting, by far, from day one, any other bat I ever owned or used, including a teammate's titanium. My first home run in 50 years of playing came with the Miken!

APMiken, he may of not ben a rep. I just assumed he was cause he was there all day along with big Mike and we had a very good conversation about numerous bats that were on the table. I'm sorry if this isn't the case he never stated he was a rep. Steve Brown Desperados 55

No problem Steve. I am guessing the person there was either Frank who works with Anaconda or someone that Mike played with back in the day. You know as well as I do, nobody more popular than the Big Cat!

I remember those days of the Ultra IIs also. My last year with that bat I went through 12,, and that wasn't using them much in BP. I had one that still was going a few years back too, but it broke during testing with the newer product. Bats that break in seem to have the best chance to get the hottest but keep in mind most associations have wanted to eliminate break in the bat standards they set. To make a bat that continues to break in, sooner or later it will fail compressions standards. This new Freak Black design will get hotter, and yet stay within the standards while allowing the sweet spot to open up. In watching some of the videos that are showing up you can hear the sound of the bat change. That is when you know it is ready for the games. My boy Billy Hudson has been doing some videos on FB with guys on his team and you can really hear the difference. It's a good bat guys. Ap

If you guys still aren't sold on the Miken Freak Black you should go hit one for yourselves. Rancid/ Miken Sports has about 1500 swings on it now and the ball is just exploding off the barrel now. Even mishits are going a long ways. These bats do need some swings on them to open up but when they do I promise you all will want one for your bag. Great Bat Adam!!!!

Tri18 I just hit a friends 27oz freak black and he said he had 200 cuts on the bat and it felt a little lighter than 27oz. I was not impressed with the bat and had an Easton Elder 27oz with 30 cuts on the bat and I would compare the Miken freak black with the Easton at this point. I have not been playing since the Pensacola tournament in Oct and my timing was a little off.

By the way the original Miken U2 was hitting the super duper blue dots min 47 core 675 compression and they were a little better on bats than the fire balls we are hitting now. Some teams were hitting the zn's which would destroy Alum and composite bats.

AP Miken, Can you list your contact info I have a question I would like to ask you off the board about the Miken Big Cat.

Soooo, the Freak Black must be similar to the Triad Blackout, which also takes many hits on a smooth barked tree to break it in. Where's my Advil!

Thanks Tri18. I still took the Advil with the headache I had from all these discussions about the latest whiz bang bat. Glad at 150LBS I don't hit 'em over the fence, since our pensions wouldn't be able to cover all these bats some of the guys must have.

J Dub brings up a great point. This bat has to "press" a lot higher than the rest of the Miken senior bats or the other senior bats from other manufacturers for that matter. To really compare apples to apples, having some data to look at would be more useful than having someone say " I tried the new senior bat from ABC company and was hitting 380 foot bombs " when that same guy can hit 380 foot bombs with most other senior bats.

Compression readings would be really helpful !

Alan, the 2 piece Ultra Max Load I got from you in the beginning of the year is still going strong !
