DH
My question is the ISA/ASA authorized use of a designated hitter. I can remember reading something about a DH in a softball rules/regulations book but I cannot find it again. Could someone please provide me with a reference and information about the use of a DH in Senior Softball. Personally I think that if a person cannot play defensively and can only bat and when they get to first base they require a substitute runner then they should not be allowed to play until they are healthy enough to compete in a total game. But anyway a reference, if there is one, to designated hitters would be appreciated.

If you can have 12 guys listed on your lineup card and of course everyone gets their at bats but you can only have 10 in the field, isn't that the same thing. You don't have to list them as a d h since positions for the starting 10 in the field is not required.

In ISSA and ASA 65 and over use 11 fielders and bat as many as desired. In SPA and SSUSA the 11 fielders start at 70 and bat as many as want. This is Senior Ball rules.

In Senior Softball, we have an EH (Extra Hitter) which allows a player to bat and play defense.

I dont have my rulebook in hand, but you would probably find the reference under "Players and Substitutes"
