Equipment
I don't know about others, but I like to keep my equipment stored at room temperature during the offseason. Excessive cold in my opinion is more brutal on bats than excessive heat. It will also compromise most pitchers masks from what I've seen.

Anybody else feel this way?

I don't thing the cold is going to hurt bats or face masks. I keep mine in the back of my pickup all winger (Ma.) as I hit outdoors all winter for exercise.

I do keep my Glove indoors as the cold would make the leather stiff.

The excess cold will make any joint contract on masks. It will also make some brittle. Excess heat will melt some of the masks, and they will not back into the place they were before.

I'm not talking anything extreme, just enough to damage the integrity of the mask. I got my info from a sporting goods store owner, who got it from his distributor.

Fred S, you don't hit with your senior bats do you? I've often kept my broken bats to hit BP with in colder weather.

Nice to know about the mask.

I am one of the odd ones. I don't use Senior bats. Tried one a few years ago and all I did was hit into some nice looking long outs. During my 2nd tournament that year I went back to my MUT98 and started hitting my singles/doubles and let the big boys knock me in.

I use my PST98, EST XGold and a Hammer during the winter months.

Just speaking from experience, Bobby. Most anything with swell, or contract with weather changes. Just look at door jambs when the weather changes for example.

Years ago, I had a pair of Air Nikes in a car, and one of heals blew out due to the excessive heat.

Clean the pads of the masks. That will help preserve the leather. Dirt, and sweat are tough on those things.
