Bruce - we would have love to have you. I'm getting texts & emails about what happened and who won. I'll give you a report on how it went. 21 hitters - very tough conditions with heavy fog like air coming in from left and cross to right.

Some Legends of Softball came out:

Hank Garris (Softball HOF)
Davey Reed (Softball HOF)
Ozzie Canseco (MLB player)
Jeff Vargo (Steele's)
Eddie Starcher (Bell Corp)
Bob Waldyke (Long Haul Bomber)
Reggie Brown (Suncoast & Resmondo)
Jack Salsa Arnst (Linedrive, HOF)

Very fun night - DJ playing some old school music - and good crowd.

We appreciate all of the hitters & fans that came to watch.

Thanks,

Lee Trotter

DUDLEY Softball HR Derby - SSUSA Winter Nationals Nov 7, 2014 Naples, FL.

With a heavy fog like air coming in from left, 21 hitters from AAA hitters to Super Major Players from 50 to age 68 tried to cut thru the thick air. Fences are 325 all around and played like 400 ft when balls were hit to Death Valley in Left field.

Format: 10 pitches & 2 takes.

1st Round:

50's Division:
Lefty Hitter Ed Starcher hit some towering HR's to Right field to advance to the 50 finals. With a 3 way tie with Hank Garris, Richard Anderson & Ozzie Canseco battling for the final spot for the finals. Hank Garris lead off and hit some creatures and hit 5 out. Next was lefty Richard "Low Ball hitter" Anderson with Miami Power who hit 2 absolute bombs around the light poles, then cooled off with a lot of hard linedrives, but no more HR's. Then Ozzie Canseco came to bat started off slow, but hit the last 4 balls well into the night with his patented spin move Hr blasts to force a 5 pitch hitoff with Hank Garris. These guys liked to hit because they both hit 2 out of 5 forcing another playoff. With the 1 swing format - Hank Garris hit the farthest ball of the night and Ozzie came up and tried to dig out a low pitch but was unable to. Hank Garris advances to face Ed Starcher in the Finals.

60's Division:
Also saw Lefty Davey Reed take a commanding lead with his towering bombs to Right field and advanced to the 60 Finals. With Salsa Jack Arnst (Hollis/Rose)edging out Dave Melosi from 50 cal by 1 HR.

Finals:

50's Division: Hank Garris leads off and puts 5 out of 10 balls well over the fence. Ed Starcher hits every other ball over the fence til the last 2 pitches and hits the last pitch foul. With the crowd yelling "Fair Ball" - Ed walks out of the batters box stating it was foul and congratulated Hank on winning the Dudley 50's SSUSA Winter National HR Derby.

60's Division: Salsa Jack lead off with hard linedrives to left center & right center but not getting over the fence. Jack said I love my swing and he's ready for the tournament. Davey Reed wasted no time and on the first pitch took it deep over the Right field fence to win the Dudley 60's SSUSA Winter National HR Derby.

We would like to thank all that came out and look forward to having some other HR derby's coming to a Senior tournament in 2015. We did video-taped the action and well be producing a you-tube video of the HR Derby.

Special Thanks to: Dudley Sports, SSUSA & Suncoast Sports / Seniorlegend.com for proving the fields, balls, prizes and the DJ to keep the excitement up with some old school jams & Monster Hr's.

Good luck to all the teams this weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the ballpark.

Thanks,

Lee Trotter
