| Nov. 17, 2014 Max56 3 posts | Age Groups Why doesn't the age grouping start on July 1st? If a player doesn't turn a certain age by that date he has to stay in that age group until Jan. 1st. There are definite advantages for some players depending on where their birth date lands. This may have been addressed at the meetings in the past. |
| Nov. 17, 2014 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | I do not believe they do... You can play the age group of interest (say 50 for example,) if you turn that age (50) at any time during the calendar year. IE you can play 50's at age 49 if you turn 50 in Dec of that year. |
| Nov. 17, 2014 Max56 3 posts | If player A turns 65 in January and player B turns 65 in December this basically means player B plays all year at 64 but player A starts the year at 65. The advantage goes to the player with the late birth date giving him several months advantage. Months to some players aren't much but to others it is. |

One is afforded the option of playing 65 while the other can't until the following year. This while the age difference is a matter of where on the calendar your birthday lies. In this case it could be a few days or weeks just opposite ends of the calendar year. |
