Seeking Info....
Ladies and Gents...,

I'm having Cataract Surgery on my right eye on 12/11 at my local VA Medical center... Any info on what to expect from those out there who have had this procedure done.

Thanks in advance for you experiences and input...

Jose I had Cataract Surgery twice in my left eye and there is very little pain except when you need to scratched it. Please don't even think about touching that eye for at least 2 weeks. More important is that you take your eye drops like your suppose to and try to keep the water out of your eye when taking a shower now that's tough to do also. This past year I've had 2 detach Retina surgery and it's the same thing take the eye drops everyday. If you need to talk to someone about it just call me anytime I'm retired now due to medical reasons. Good luck on your surgery you'll come out just fine

Jose I put this off for five years until my optometrist said he couldn't do more with glasses. I was frightened about having somebody touch my eyes. But I could no longer see out of either eye very well. Street signs were blurry, Halos around every light at night and I had to squint to see anything up close. The ophthalmologist told me he had done 25,000 of these operations. He only does surgery one day a week. I ask how many? He said 15 to 20 in a day. When he came in after I was prepped I asked how many so far? He said 12. I said great, so you have had enough practice to be good at it today :O) It takes just 15 minutes. When I woke up and opened my eye I said put me under and do the other one now!!! It was like I was 16 again. I could see in HD. You wait you won't believe it. Best surgical procedure I ever had done.

I had both eyes done in 2007. Best decision I've made. My recovery was much quicker than I see here. But, do the drops! They will prevent infection. I chose to do the distance lens in both eyes and I am able to read all but the smallest aspirin bottle printing without reading glasses. My night vision is great. Good luck!

So far the surgery is coming out to be an excellent decision. The surgeon and I decided to do the left eye on the 18th.. to even out the vision acuity. My right eye during the post OP exam was reading almost 20/20, the 1st time in 50 years... She placed distance lens... I'm extremely happy with the results at this time. I can only imagine, how much better I will get, seeing the ball in a game.. LOL!! doing exactly as instructed by my doctor, doing the drops as scheduled. My question is how long does it take to get back with hitting BP and on the field...? thanks in advance guys... Happy Holidays to all...

Glad everything worked out for you as I knew it would. One thing you will find, at least I did, is your brain and the new lenses will take some getting use to. For me my hand eye coordination was off. Im a good ball striker in that I rarely miss the ball. The first batting practice with the new eyes I missed the first five pitched balls. It really freaked me out. But eventually the new eyes and my brain caught up with each other. Good luck and have a Merry Christmas
