Jan. 21, 2015 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Balls 52/300 Mr MadDog, our day league may switch to 52/300 because someone was hitting/testing a 2014 bat and it cracked. The guy sent it back and was not replaced because he used a 44/375 ball our current league ball. What 52/300 brand do you use in your league? James |
Jan. 21, 2015 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | hi james whats up.....we use the AD STARR TATTOO'S for our senior league....we have a bring your own ball league's here so there are others also..but we stick with the tattoo's as does most of the other leagues/teams.....mens open, senior, church and coed......get a hold of kevin schulstrom at AD STARR....what bat was that they wouldn't warranty....... |
Jan. 22, 2015 Lefty Men's 75 721 posts | May be using a ASA bat only. I believe you can only use 52/300 balls. |
Jan. 22, 2015 Fred S Men's 85 297 posts | Depends what you are looking for. For durability I would go with the Evil's. The Tattoo's have a little better game performance but don't stand up over a long period of time. (We use our game balls for BP and pickup games which we play a lot of which is why I prefer the Evil's) |
Jan. 22, 2015 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Bob, the bat was not named in the league e-mail. I will try to find out. Here is what was said: NOTE: I have already received one major request to revisit the balls for use in 2015. The request was accompanied by a statement from that team that they had experienced a crack in a brand new 2014 approved ASA bat, and when the owner went back to the manufacturer to seek compensation, he was denied because the bat was tested using the new .52/300 ball and we had used the old .44/375 ball in league play last year. |
Jan. 22, 2015 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Bob, send me an e-mail and I will return the info jamestulsa@sbcglobal.net James |
Jan. 23, 2015 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | james went and did some research and ASA as of 1 jan 2014,only allows the 52-300 ball...so i guess the bat mfg'er has a point in not allowing a warranty.....when using 44-375's.....email coming.. |
Jan. 23, 2015 Mark 44 Men's 60 88 posts | FYI, ASA rules are written for championship play only. Unfortunately City leagues can & do use whatever ball that they feel like. This leaves league players in a quandary as to what bat will actually work, last & be covered under warranty. |

Jan. 27, 2015 Wayne 37 Men's 65 773 posts | What day league do you play in. I have a Miken Ultra ASA bat I will sell. It is a 2013. This bat is hotter than the old ASA bats, so instead of sending the balls back, they wouldn't let people use them. The old men are so scared of this bat, they want you to put a piece of red tape around it to let the infielders know you're using one. The Mid-Cities day league is anal as they come in the B & C Divisions. |
