| Feb. 12, 2015 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Thoughts on the new ISSA Super Divisions? Should SSUSA and SPA follow suit and allow unlimited players from the eastern or western US on a team? Do you think this will be good for senior softball? I'm kind of undecided as of now. |

| Feb. 13, 2015 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Jawood, this is from the ISSA email: ISSA SUPER SENIOR SERIES - In November the ISSA Staff was asked to consider holding competition for the senior teams that have been rated Major Plus by other organizations by including them in the central location at Rockford, IL in the ISSA World Championships. We agreed to do that and the word spread quickly and we were asked to consider holding some other events as well, thus we created the Super Senior Series which will have “super divisions” at the ISSA Smoky Mountain Senior Classic on June 5-7, the ISSA World Championships-Rockford on August 14-16 and the ISSA US Open National Championships at Myrtle Beach on October 23-25. The ISSA Super Divisions will allow senior teams to use players on their roster from either east or west of the Mississippi River (with exceptions for Midwest teams). Other rules such as maximum homeruns, time limits, etc. are modified from the ISSA Major rules. Participation on a team in the Super Division will not be a factor in determining player eligibility for participation on a AAA or Major ISSA Team. The goal is to allow managers to bring the very best team that they can put together and come play for all the bragging rights. Teams planning on playing in these events are urged to submit the entry forms now so the ISSA can let the teams know the division will play. Competition will be held in 50+, 55+, 60+ and 65+ division if four or more teams are entered. |
| Feb. 13, 2015 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Bruce, thanks, that is interesting information. When the Midwest is the exception, do you know what they define as Midwest? I know here we think that Indiana and the surrounding states (although I have had people tell me that this is the Great Lakes region) plus maybe Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin are Midwest, but if you look at other states, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska may consider themselves Midwest (correct me if I have left off your state). From here, we consider that the Plains region. Anyway, I would be interested in how they define Midwest in terms of the exception, and if those teams can only use what are considered Midwest players (or some other criteria defined for the exception). It just seems like it could be more complicated than using the big river as a divider. Of course softball and geography do not always align. |

| Feb. 13, 2015 Tim Millette 615 posts | Not a good move... maybe SOME seniors have not been paying attention to the young softballers but...EVERY division infested with national all star teams shrinks in team numbers.. SSUSA and SPA should be happy a competing association is hurting their chance to compete with them. |

Nothing against RB, but you are much more entertaining to talk with, especially on softball topics. Besides we do not have a pony in his race. It could make a big difference to those teams depending on how they define Midwest and what the roster composition is allowed to be for their exception. Fortunately you are from Georgia, and I do not have a Major Plus team. If I did, they would be playing SSUSA, and I would try to recruit you. |

Good idea but as also mentioned having to play, for lack of other wording, out of division or something else would kill the fun as is happening here now. It would be a like old times, he who can 'buy' the team, likely will win. That said, it is also what killed it back then in time. Having the venue in a central location is good. |
