It isnt a matter of better,
IMO you're going to see a lot of municipalities and Tournament providers try to dumb down the ball. The reason is the bats are becoming better and lasting longer not to mention the plethora of bat cheating web sites.
The ball fields are not getting larger and it still only takes a 301 foot shot to clear a 300 foot fence. As impressive as it is to hit a 450 footer the cities are not impressed. Temecula went to supplying bats about a year and a half ago but quickly realized the safety issue was very costly in bat breakage. So this season they went to a dumb'd down ball. Time will tell if the major entities will make a move. It can be a little scary as last tournament a player on a 55 team fractured his jaw on a one hopper at third. There isn't any debate the the dumb'd down ball would not have got there that quick. We are not making any moves yet but it has to be in the backs of peoples minds that the combination of current bats and some balls have to be scrutinized more closely.

marv all the major assoc's already use this ball...ASA 52-300...USSSA 52-275.....NSA/GSA 52-275.......the balls are basically the same just labeled different per assoc......and really those balls are very good to play with....we use them here in texas with no prol with the heat(unlike the 44 balls)or cold......also insurance wise the 52 ball will be safer option to use....now go blame all the clowns who felt the need for special(shaved, painted, rolled) bats so they could hit a ball out of the infield..as they are the ones who brought the 52 into the game.....

Unfortunately, the 52 ball has also caused a huge increase in the number of shaved bat cheaters (ALLEGEDLY)!
And it doesn't even matter if those bats help to hit the 52 ball further or not as long as the Shavers think that they do . . .

When I said Major I meant Senior. I guess we are spoiled out here because the Monday Senior League and The SCSSA all use the ISA ROCK. Those that know say its a 500 compression ball regardless what it says on the cover. I can document that with at least three ball manufacturers. I have some 52/300s that I let the guys hit with a while back and they turned up their noses. As long as SSUSA approves the stupid ball we will continue to use it. Once you've hit it nothing else will satisfy the guys. Personally I don't like it for a variety of reasons.
