AZ Roadrunners have disbanned
It was with much sadness that I read today that the AZ Roadrunners who had been moved up to major last Oct after finishing 3rd in World have decided to break up the team. I can understand and agreed with them asking senior softball to drop them back to AAA after 3 tournaments. Having seen them lose badly in Major competition and after Palm Springs being drilled by 4 Major teams going 0-5 and losing most games by double figures it was a easy call to ask for help. We did win one game in Jan- Feb at Rick Seifman's tournament but that was by 1 run to a AA 60 team.. I hold no anger with the people in charge as I consider them to be good friends and they have gone way beyond in helping me in past with the Children's Home golf tournament each year. I have had such a wonderful streak by being able to pitch past 30 years and being a part of CJS Express to win the Triple Crown and Worlds in 50 division 5 years ago. We also won a TOC in AAA the first year it was offered. I am blessed and if I never play again I can be thankful for the chances I have had to face some of the best . It was nice to be competitive in last Sundays game where we lost by one run and I at 62 was lucky to hit a inside park Home Run and strike out 3 guys at the plate. You guys know I am no speed demon. HA. I have already set up my trip for Vegas in April and Myself and wife will still be going for the 3 days even not playing. Since we can now play to 85 and over I am sure this is not my last time to play but I plan to set back and see what occurs. Maybe this is God's way to tell me he wants me in more Sunday church services as I sing up front when I am not playing. I wish not only former Roadrunners but all of you much success. Life is a blessing and stay happy. We are winning by just being on the field.Thank you terry Fran George and Dave for putting on a program to give us a chance to play at our age. Hugs to all Gary Ingle

That's a shame that you currently are not able to play. I hope it works out for you in the long run. We need everyone playing that we can get.

Best of luck, hope you find a new team. We played you guys at the worlds in Vegas.
Nice team you had there! I pitched against you guys for Hannington's 60's from MA

We were moved up as well. Out first test will be in mid May.

Thanks Tom, I too remember you guys well. My former coach from 10 years ago for AZ. Mob 50's is Mike Mule we played Major and AAA level. I am not sure I ever got him out . He loves my pitching and played for you guys. Saw Mike last weekend in tournament. I am hopeful after such a long time in playing that I will land somewhere. Feel free to call me at 480-981-6406 if ever you need someone for fun tournament I know I will be playing with Q-Man from Rouge and other teams in Pinetop this June. I understand Prescott has a tournament coming up in May. One thing I know is God always has a plan. Just like I tell the students at school SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO TAKE A STEP BACK TO SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE.I am fine with that. Bless you for your kind words and see you on the field. Gary I.

First of all I want to thank several of you guys who have called and said keep our heads up. That was a nice thing to do.So many have been kind and it is nice to be thought of. I also heard from guys in mesquite yesterday and Hunters and Tucson Bandits were doing very well and leading the 55 division and playing for championships. Both those teams are a good bunch and hunters are giving up some age to compete with 55's. After attending church today I have to say it really is not so bad for us guys who are looking for a team. One of our church leaders returned today from her 3rd heart surgery and another lady just finished her first treatment from cancer. SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO BE CONCERNED OVER. Puts things in a different view for sure.Anyway just wanted to close this with much thanks . Bless each of you and if I can ask but one thing from you,,, How about we all be COLOR BLIND when looking at each other. GI
