Thank you St. George Utah
I literally just got home from Spring Worlds in St. George, Utah; 50's. And after over 380 miles (one way) and 6+ hours I have other things I should be doing, but...
I wanted to say "thank you" to the City of St. George. The Canyons Complex is absolutely the best, and I have had the opportunity to play at Big League Dreams and Victory Lanes in Phoenix. But this complex flat smokes them. The grounds-crew was first class (we even had a teammate lose something in the outfield and they retrieved a metal detector for us to use). The complex was immaculate.
I have to also say that the UMPIRE CREW was exactly what you would expect; professional with a sense of humor. Once again, I have had the opportunity to play in Phoenix and the St. George "blues" are at the top of the stack.
Finally, the St. George community is a well kept and clean, and the shopkeepers are polite and welcoming.
We will return to St. George, Utah; for both for the softball tourney and to just visit.
Why ?
Because you have earned it.
Thank you St. George.

I must agree. I have driven through St. George many times on the way to Vegas from Montana, but staying there for 4 day's you get to notice how nice a place it really is. A postcard view from just about everywhere you go. Ton's of great restaurants, friendly people and a very clean city. Softball fields were in great shape and groomed quickly between games. The umpires were great. This was the best run and the most fun tournament I have ever played in. Thank you SSUSA, The Canyon's softball complex and the city of St. George. See you next year!

E6,

Did they locate the lost item? If you are with AZ Old School, it was lost during our game.

Hopefully they found it. Thanks for a great game.

Take care,

WDodge22,
Nope, we never found that item. To say our guy gave it all on the field ..... is pretty darn close.
Thanks for the competition. See you soon.

I have to admit, the fields at Canyons are beautiful. Great city, great people. SSUSA is a class act. On the other hand, I have to disagree about the umpiring. The umpires, that we had, were terrible. Here are a few examples: 1. In our first game, the very first batter came around to score and stepped right on home plate. I was yelling at the blue to turn around and look. He never did. When he finally came back to the plate, he put his head down and said he was sorry for not watching. I told him it was OK, as I know it is hard to watch everything. I asked him to please watch them from now on. It happened 2 more times, and he did not " see " them either. We lost the game by one run. Could of turned out better for us if he was watching.
2. The umpire in our 4th game gave the other team 4 home runs. The rule is 3, I guess he could not count. We tried to show him where they hit their 3rd HR, but he would not hear it.
3. The home plate umpire, in a two umpire system, overruled the base umpire on a double play. He called it correctly, a 6-4-3 double play. Now, the base umpire was in perfect position to see the whole play. The home plate umpire never moved from behind the plate. She told him, she had a better look at the play than he did. So she overruled the base umpire and said the batter beat the throw to first. My question is : then why was he even there?
Umpires make mistakes, I know that. But, some of these things should NEVER happen.
