Not done correctly!(Worlds, CA Cup, etc)
Wake up guys! You are still asleep in these fantasy tournaments that were not done correctly. The so-called big tourneys with players playing down from higher divisions or teams playing down, because it was OK'd by the TD or their were not enough teams in a particular bracket. This is more important than what freaken bat or ball to use. THESE THINGS JUST SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN THESE SO-CALLED "BIG" TOURNAMENTS!!!!!!!! No exceptions, none!!!!!!!! Latest example is the LV Worlds. First I would like to say, great job Full Count! Why were they playing D & K, a MAJOR team???? All games should be against your age bracket and division in these "BIG" tournaments. Which AAA teams got knocked into the losers bracket by D & K, a MAJOR team?? You got ripped off in what you went up there to pursue gentlemen. a fair chance to be number 1. Many solutions here, but I will just state one. In these "BIG" tournaments, 1) do not mix ages or divisions, and 2) if there are less than 4 teams in a bracket, then let the teams know and do not have that division for that weekend. The rings have lost their glory. Come on, D & K, a MAJOR team won rings and they were the only Major team in the tourney????? How can you take pride in that????? Maybe I should just buy one, but I do not want one that way. I am saying this to all of you, because I like winning, but when it is done correctly and within the spirit of the game.

Fill it any way you can ='s $$. Almost always the rational for it.
I think teams (Mgrs) need the option to paly against them or not allow them in. All done before setting the schedule up.
Given the playing a AA against a higher rated\ranked team
without knowledge. Nothing like surprises. lol

There is a positive way to look at it either way. there are some who pay attention to the way the higher ranked team manages\coaches and the way they play besides the hitting fielding aspect. We are not that old so as not to learn something from it. Even the fielding & hitting styles and can teach us something as well. Be it the stance, grip, ya bat, and where they are in the box.

You failed to mention that D & K is a 55 Major. Yes they played the in the 50 AAA bracket because they were the only 55 Major team there. By no means did they kill the opposition, as all games were close. Full Count had to win three 1-run games to get to the championship. In the championship game, they lost by 1 run. All the games were very close and the tournament could have been won by any of the teams.

How about the idea of 3 to 4 Major players, playing in the AA division in LV.

Excellent point Sal. I guess arguments are like close plays; it all depends on the angle you are looking at them from. By the way, Duke, what is a self-proclaimed .800 hitter doing playing AAA?

Hey Sal and DMac, I think most of us just want to play within our age bracket and proper divisions. Why not just do it right! As far as me in Majors, I would have no problem playing in that division, if someone needs an extra player and it is legal AND hopefully playing Major teams. I enjoy playing with the guys on my team, and there are more AAA showing up to tourneys. Half the teams that we played this year were Majors, so whatever. I also play AAA 50's, and have problem performing well there either. Without fences, most Major teams, especially 55's, would be on an equal level with the AAA teams. Great defending your position or me mine, but notice the decrease in teams this year. I remember many more teams showing up to the big tournaments 3 or 4 years ago, than now. Unfortunately, our next tourney will have some AAA teams and AA teams, which is the same situation that I am trying to avoid. I feel bad for the AA teams that we will be playing(whether we win or not), but I do not want to play Major teams, that we cannot beat. I do not care to play AA teams that are not a challenge, and play to that level. Obviously, we are just a AAA team that competes well at that level. Probably be good to play on open fields and give everyone an equal chance, regardless of age. Who knows anymore.

Sal, Two more things, I would think that everyone knew D & K was a 55 team, if they have been around. It is not the point of the scores, as to whether or not the tournament was fair or the teams are equal. You miss the point here. It does not matter, because if teams really cared, then something would be done to correct. Our team played some Major team that just paced themselves, so they did not blow us out. It was quite obvious that they were doing that. Anyway, see you at our next tournament. If you were playing in the Major division, I could sub for you guys, but you are not. LOL! Have a good week!

Sal And DMac, I guess that I meant to say that I have no problem performing well in the 50AAA division, when asked to play. OOPPSS!! LOL!! Sal, you know me. i could play on your team with no problem, except you are always playing AAA teams when I see you. Why bother??

Duke, at least there are still a couple of parks left with open fields & a couple others with one side or the other open as well.

Taits- I do not think that anyone thought that 300 foot fences would be too close, especially with the Ultra II. The only solution here is simple at most parks, 1) take the fences out, or 2) move the fences back to 350 feet. There are still many seniors with the Ultra II that can put it out with 350 foot fences. Obviously, this can't be done at fields like the Field of Dreams and other locations. You know they are aware of the situation, because some of the Field of Dreams tournaments are not allowing the Ultra II, and they are not allowing a homer, unless you clear the entire stadium.

Duke, I wasn't implying that 300 was too close or too far for that matter. The average person hits less than that (300)anyway. About 90% of the fields are city\county owned and have fixed fences so moving is out of the question. Reasons: cost and anything that might be behind them would stop any open field use. I only know of 3 parks I have played at that have full or partial open fields on them. I'm sure there alot all over the place but too many factors are in place to just change them.
As for the BLD parks none will be allowing the U-2 from Jan '07on. Corporate decision due to "insurance reasons". I got that in a long conversation with the GM in Manteca.
so far I've been able to use them at the privately owened park in Fresno, CA. I have two scheduled for ' 07, April 21-22 and May 5-6. Some parks, not all, have a painted or otherwise marked area 6' from the, so that if a ball hits above that it is considered a HR.
