WOODLAWN HITTING CLUB?
I NEED TO FIND A PLACE TO HIT SOM B.P. WHERE IS THIS "WOODLAWN HITTING CLUB", WHEN DO THEY HIT, AND CAN ANYONE SHOW UP. I LIVE IN WINTER HAVEN FL. AND THERE AREN'T EVEN ANY CAGES AROUND HERE CLOSE THAT I CAN FIND. OR, IF THIS "W.H.C." IS TOO FAR AWAY, IS THERE ANYONE CLOSE TO WINTER HAVEN THAT HITS ON A FAIRLY REGULAR BASIS? I'LL HELP SUPPLY BALLS ETC. 55 YEARS OLD AND AFTER A 10 YEAR LAYOFF MY CONSISTENCY IS LESS THAN DESIRABLE.

THANKS "BRUCE IN GA". I'LL LOOK INTO IT. ALTHOUGH ST. PETE IS AN HOUR AND 20 AWAY AND I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE HERE AT 6:15 AM.....(YUCK) THOUGHT I GAVE THAT EARLY RISER CRAP A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO..... DO THEY HIT THE BALLS THE SSUSA USES IN GAMES (TRUMP STOTE)? OR DO THEY HIT A "MORE LIVELY" BALL (ROCK, ETC)?? WANT TO GET A TRUE IDEA OF WHERE I AM AT.

Dave Pops North's email is woodlawnone1@verizon.net He can fill you in..they use a mix of 44 375 with some evil 2 color bp balls. Very few high compression balls...they are bat conscious. 50 pitch guarantee then a fun breakfast and bs afterwards. Mostly seniors. Dave will look at your swing for you if you ask...and offer advice from a Hall of Famer and one of the best power hitters ever in that area. He's 76 now, but often pitches 400 balls at the club and can still hit it great when his legs feel ok.

Hey Bruce and Bogie, I'm trying to start a Woodlawn Team out of Ohio. So we're expanding. Kinda' like the chapter in Taylor, Michigan. Snowbirds, ya' know.

I go every Tu and Th when I am down in Riverview visiting my mom.
She knows better than to try and schedule something during this time. The format is perfect. You divide into two groups. One hits and one shags the balls. Then you switch. Then you do it a second time. When hitting, you line up and each man takes 5 swings and goes to the end of the line. This continues until you have 25 hits. You will end up with 50 total and that is enough. The weather has to be pretty bad for them to cancel. They have guys who pitch but are always looking for more. They use a protective screen.

Proud member of the Taylor branch Woodlawn Hitting Club. I really like the 5 hit 5 round format. We've been hitting for about 4 weeks now. Tell my buddy Steve Papalas, Jim said Hi!
