| June 8, 2015 Benji4 Men's 55 289 posts | Great Smokey Mountain Senior Classic Just got home from Maryville, Tennessee playing in the Great Smokey Mountain Senior Classic and all I can say is WOW!!!! The atmosphere, crowds, the scenery, and the competitiveness from all the major plus teams, made for a great tournament. I'm not taking anything away from SSUSA but this is a tournament all teams should experience. Congrats to my Sommerville Teammates for battling all weekend including those with injuries to help us win the championship. American Metal Recycling, Southside and Mid Atlantic are all very good teams. We were hoping to get to play the powerhouse Florida team (Team 1 Sports), but never saw them in the winner's bracket. The level of play from all the teams was top notch and I can say the competition was the best we (Sommerville) have seen in one tournament. Every game was a battle. Playing on a field where the centerfield fence is 350 feet makes for long days in a 3 man outfield, but our guys did it and never complained. Hopefully everyone made it home safe, and special shout out to my LE buddies Jake, Ross, and Disco. Hopefully Sommerville makes this a yearly event. Benji |
