In the mid-80's in New Orleans, I had a nerve block in my lower back. When I awoke, I was told that the recovery room was full. I was being carried down a long hall and into a huge open room and placed in a corner with curtains surrounding me. The reason: the room was filled with expectant mothers in all stages of pre-delivery!! For the next hour I heard cursing, moans and groans, "I'm going to kill my husband", etc. What drove me the most crazy was one poor lady who constantly repeated extremely loud "All the pretty colors, all the pretty colors!" A nurse finally came to check on me and I begged to be removed, winding up in the hallway for a while....Very peaceful!! |
