The Game & who is in CHARGE?
To LVSSA: The gray Miken is banned. It took only 4 months 4 u to stop using this bat. U have now banned the ULTRA 11 for the WORLD's in 2004. When will u stop using this bat on TUES. & THURS.?
To the area ASA HEAD of UMPS:
U sued LVSSA & lost. U won't do any more of our TOURNAMENTS unless we back pay u & kiss u're .... (U want us to pay 4 games that were not umped.) To the NSA STATE DIRECTOR: U bad mouth Seniors & SS-USA; 4 out of 5 NSA balls r too hot to be used w/ todays composite bats ( This comes from B & N SOFTBALL, WORTH, TRUMP, & several other ball manufactors.); if, u really do care about player safety, than why, does NSA & the other groups not use the 50 or 47 COR. balls that have a 375 COMP>? Why, is the WORTH's PST 100 & EASTON's 100 PLUS, legal 4 only 2004?

MAD DOG:
The area ASA person who schedules umps (B.C.) & 2 of his men will not do any LVSSA games. The state ASA U.I.C. & the regional ASA director can not get these 3 men in line. They sued LVSSA & lost. Unless we pay them 4 games that they did not ump & ......., they will not do any more of our tournaments. Jerry, on of the trouble makers has walked twiced out on games that were in progress. ASA & B.C., did nothing.
NSA, will be doing this tournament. Marty, ( NSA's NV. DIRECTOR) hates SS-USA & SENIORS. 4 this tourn.' the ULTRA 11 & FREAK CAN NOT BE USED. Neither can the YELLOW SYNERGY. We r surposed to be using a 47 cor ball w/ a 525 comp. Most of the NSA UMPS do try & hustle. D-Mac, will run a good crew @ this event.

E-mail me @ STONEMAN_ANIMAL@ YAHOO.COM. I can discuss more details. SS-USA's WORLD's is another matter. Terry, will have to deal w/ this. But, our local ISA, have a young & growing group of UMPs that work hard. Hopefully, 2 ASA umps will not be doing ISA.

STONE, we HAVE always enjoyed coming to the WORLDS IN SEPT,OCT IN LAS VEGAS ,do some gambling, and best of all, getting to use the ULTRA II DURING THE TOURNAMENT, if LVSSA IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW the ULTRA II, SSUSA WILL ALLOW IT, i believe some teams are going to switch from LVSSA TO SSUSA. I am glad TERRY H. has the STONES to hold his ground ON THE U-2 ISSUE, AND WE NEED TO BACK HIM UP AND PLAY HIS TOURNAMENTS.

ARMYHO211:
There is more than what meets the eye. Terry, does listen to the needs & wants of SENIORS. LVSSA, is in a rock & a hard place. (Trying to find good umps.)There r many persons who r umps, etc. & r running the pool of umps. These men do not like our SENIOR rules. They want more money & shorter games. There is a power play going on. . Since some of the older ASA local umps do not want to do our games & want to change our rules to their desires & egos, what is LVSSA's board to do? The state ASA U.I.C. has tried to resolved this matters. Please, remember, that the members of LVSSA, r trying to please the whole SENIOR PLAYER ASSOC. Come to Vegas & have fun. This B.S. will stop. We will find a group of umps that will work by SENIOR RULES. The Vegas seniors do want u here. TRY & NOT LET A FEW UMPS RUIN OUR FUN. THIS WILL PAST. Come & renew old friendships......
Good luck.

Games are not too long , especially when you consider that most of us travel hundreds of miles and spend hundreds of dollars just to play a tournament.

We are supposed to get our money's worth.

As for bats, in my experience the only difference b/t the U1 and U2 is the weighting. I prefer the balanced U2.

Further, of course we should use Ultras if we want them.

No one wants to travel half way across the country to hit a sock with a broom stick.

SAM LEE: Major Plus games many run 1 1/2 hrs. or more if, the games r unlimited. Around here, the UMPs want to work only 1 hr. or get paid more. U r a SENIOR & the UMPs that r running the show want SENIOR's to hit behind the runner, learn the game, etc. Several of these UMPs have stated that all SENIOR'S WANT TO DO IS HIT HOT BALLS & USE HOT BATS, ..... ETC. They only want to do 1 hr. games & do not care about SENIOR needs , wants , or desire. The NSA state director does not like SENIOR's & want SENIOR's to play under his way of thinking. There r many UMPs that think the same way. We SENIOR'S want to play our way & feel that SENIOR's should be aloud to do ........... Well, the Major Softball Org's & many UMP's think different.

1 1/4 hours is a good length for senior games, considering how far we usually have to travel to play.

Then games could be scheduled 1 1/2 hours apart.

When I played with the young guys A ball was often handled that way for that reason.

BONES; I am happy & thank u. IS SAFETY THE REAL QUESTION? IF, SO, Why, have only 2 bats ever been ban by the government (CPSC) ? Why, r the SOFTBALL groups not using a safe ball that WORTH, DECKER, DUDLEY, & TRUMP state r the only safe balls? (A 47 or 50 cor ball w/ a 375 comp.)
SENIOR'S want SENIOR RULES & only a few organ's r listening. Most SENIOR's pay their own way. Most men just want to play & have fun. When u come to VEGAS, I'll throw bp & let's have a beer. This is what I enjoy. If, u e-mail me, I can send u a ton of articles on balls, bats, injuries, etc. STONEMAN_ANIMAL@YAHOO.COM

Stoneman,
As a safety professional I am interested in your data. I have yet to find solid batted ball injury data. Most of the info is very dated or hear say. If all the associations were very concerned they would require the pitcher to wear head gear with faceshield, cup and shin guards. I have run an over 30 outlaw league for 12 years and the injuries come from running contact and sliding. By the way in that league all bats are legal (except Ti) and 3 homers than an out. No problems with the middle. I will be in your area the week of 29 August (MGM Grand) attending a safety conference. If I have time, BP would be great.
