U2 Handles
I heard a rumor yesterday that Miken was going to start making U2\'s with a \"normal\" handle again. Anyone else heard this?

Sometime in June they'll be shipping...

It's funny that over here in Hawaii we don't seem to have that BIG of a problem with U2s.
The problem we do have is that bats are breaking at the handle in our 14" league...and it's just a very small #.
All of the guys that had their bats break say they could tell that they hit the ball at the end of the bat.
We have 12" leagues that still allow the U2 and it's bombs away and not a real huge problem. We don't have a "boycott" on U2s so to speak.
The league uses the Worth Gold Dot 44-375

Hey Laser

I went into the Miken site and noticed they are showing 2 bats under their U-2 series. The U-2 "advanced" (silver knob) and the U-2 velocite.

Kelly Sports has an ad for Original U-2's for $199

I am assuming this is not the old style?

Stoneman,

Surely you're not naive enough not to realize it's a, "Don't mess with our oil & we won't mess with your oil.", type of thing going on. There's no doubt in my mind that there are plenty of back door agreements involved.

Stoneman: Don't get me wrong. I'm in total agreement with you on the humanitarian issue. It's just not as simple as going in there & ending the turmoil. China is the #1 consumer of Sudanese oil. If we or the UN go in there & disrupt their oil supply what do you think will happen next? Let's just suffice to say that it wouldn't be pretty & the affects would be world-wide.

As far as not buying anything made in China goes I am in complete agreement with you! Unfortunately that may make purchasing a lot of things very expensive or impossible. If you want to help in your softball related purchases then bo back to using alloy bats or those made in Canada. You may have to make a choice of whether you want ultimate perfomance or whether you want to maintain your personal ethics.

The real answer? Well,,,,,,,,, Support & vote for candidate who agree with you......... Practice what you preach in your purchasing habits......... Advocate alternative fuel sources........ Support companies using non-union emplyees......... I am purposely over simplifying the point but you get the idea.

(BTW...... Just to keep the record straight. Mizuno is & always has been a Japanese corporation.)

MAVERICK AH: Try read' material written by "The Union of Concern Scientist". Several members on the MANHATTAN PROJECT, got together & wrote about Energy.

1) Jimmy Carter, in mid-70's, started the Renewable Energy Progam.
2) Rotten Regan, in early 1980's, stopped this Energy / Tax Break Policy.
3) Cost of oil was @ around $34 per barrel, in the 80's. The Royal Family of Saudi Arabia, dropped the cost of oil to the U S down to $14 per barrel. THINK.....!!!!
4) U S Corp, spent $892 m, in a 4-6 yr period (Tax breaks), for RESEARCH.
5) 1st planes to fly W/ the USE of Renewable Energy, X-15, X-59, & SX-71, in 1954-59.
6) What happen in D. C., on 11/11/04?? The 1st Service Station in the U S, open that sold RENEWABLE ENERGY.
7) Who killed the ELECTRIC CAR? Why, no new Nuclear Power Plants started in 30 yrs or so??

MIZUNO-- my point was that even the Japanese, have some of their produced made in China, etc.

Funny, how a small mine, gets lost sooo..... E-Z. NICE POST. But, the World "POWERS", again will stand by & watch this GENOCIDE.

THANKS.. Have a great Week...The STONEMAN, so windy.

I had no idea that so much of our softball equipment was made in China. I have been happy with my American glove and Japanese bat but I have had so much fun playing with my Chinese wife that I will be sure to try some of their other products. Thanks for the heads up.

Kelly's sports has the original U2 with a normal handle for $199 each, I thought the footnote was interesting in the ad to NOT use this bat for batting practice. I hope the composite material and connstruction is the original formula.

DMac, you're killing bashbro1 here in Kent, WA. So, let me get this straight...you're “balls” were made in American and your “wife” was made in China? That sounds like a pretty darn hot combination!!
