1ST Baseman's mitt
Can you use a 1st baseman's mitt any where in the field? I believe you can use it anywhere in ASA, but unsure in SSUSA.

You're right Gary, thinks can and do change. About 4 years I attended the SPA conference here in Atlanta. At that time the question was brought up about the maximum size of 14" for a fielder's glove. It was discussed and approved that any "production" glove would be allowed. I now see that 14" is the max allowed by SPA.
I know this doesn't address the first baseman't mitt issue, I just thought I would bring this up as how things change.

Hey, we play under our own rules per league. What we vote on is what we have followed for years. SSUSA and if they follow the rules of ASA than there is no rule against any glove (mitt) that can be used at any position. You can use a first baseman glove (mitt) in the outfield as well as the infield. As long as they don't go beyond the 14 inch length. And now they call all gloves MITTS.

Charlie, that's why I like playing first. Not many people blame the third baseman, pitcher or first baseman if they miss a hard hit ball! :)
This pasts weekend I shared first base with Patty Mac and out of 4 games I was hit one line drive and PM was hit one HARD grounder. Not much action there.

Bruce, I got to play a little 1st this weekend with RT and Don . You are right only had avout 5 balls hit my way in 6 games. I think I I caught one or two. I know of at least 2 that was past me before I could react. I guess I played to close for a while until Dino moved me back. Last time I played first was over 20 years ago. Guess thats why I like ss/2b, another second to react.

ssusa has there own rule book and you can not use a first basemans mitt anywhere but first and catcher. they do not use asa rules.
