Vegas 50AAA Sept 28-30
My team is not going to Vegas. My friend and I would like to know if there are any teams that are desperate for a pitcher and a first baseman? We play on a 50AAA team, that is not going. Since this is not a SSUSA tourney, we figure it is OK to play on another 50AAA team for this tournament. We are not interested in playing 50AA. There might be another guy that would go(OF), if I ask him soon enough. All of us bat in the 1 to 5 slots on our respective teams. My friend is in Vegas that week on business and I would drive up on Thursday night. We are from Southern California, and prefer to play on a team that knows us.

Thanks,

Andy #4

Andy:

I talked to Hiram from the Hawaii team today and they are in need of a couple of players for Vegas. He can be reached at 808-268-5502. We've had the pleasure of playing with and against these guys the last couple of years in the Maui tournament and they're a great bunch of guys. Good luck!

Thank you Southpaw. I have a call in to Hiram, and gave him my number and email address.

Southpaw- I called Hiram many times, and actually talked to him once on Thursday. It is difficult to get ahold of him. Would you bt chance have his email address? Thanks. He seemed happy that me and another would play. He was checking to see if a AAA player could play AA, and I was released from my AAA team the end of May, and have not played on any 55 teams since.

This is one of the places that I get confused. Is Vegas a tournament you had to qualify for? If so, don't you have to show up with your own/real/original roster?

Next Generation- This is not a tournament that you had to qualify to enter. Besides, it is a different organization. Many teams are not going this year, due to injuries. The team that I am going to fill in for would not be going either, if I did not help them out. Most teams do stick to their rosters, except when injuries occur or players cannot go due to work or vacation. The team that I am filling for just wants to have a good time. They are not concerned about winning or losing. That is what the coach informed me, because they are not a strong team.

Cool! I don't blame you for wanting to play, I just wonder what kind of rules cover pickups this late in the year.

Hey Andy...Haven't read the message board in a few days and saw your post from 4 days ago. I called Hiram and left him a message this morning. He just called me back and said he got in touch and you guys are going to play with the Hawaii boys in Vegas. Have a great time and tell Hiram and the boys Mahalo for me. Mike - Doubleplay 50's

Softballer- I was told that this Hawaiin team is in the AA bracket, because the guys that moved into the 55 level were not strong enough for the AAA level, and they have several injured players.

Softballer- I did not find any takers for the 50AAA or 50AA for this weekend. Thanks for getting me a team for the following weekend on the Hawaiin team. You have a good time this weekend, and I will do the same next weekend. I might be interested in playing in Phoenix, but I am only allowed to play if a 50AAA team is short on players. If an extreme emergency arises in the 55AAA, I could play but with Terry Hennesey's approval only, because I am not on anyone's roster, even though I was released from my previous 55AAA team. It would be a lot easier to just stick with the 50AAA bracket, because as of November 1, everyone can scramble for their new teams. LOL!

Later,

Andy :-)
