Aug. 30, 2004 BillyMac Men's 55 91 posts | Damon's Grill / Angle Inn wins SSWS Major World Title Let me be the first to congratulate Damon's for their heroic effort in Des Moines, winning 8 straight games in the loser's bracket after losing their first game of the tourney. You are a class bunch of guys, and if it couldn't be us, I'm thrilled that it was you. Great job double dipping Kelly's in the finals. That's two years in a row for you guys, and well deserved. ENJOY!!!!! Bill McCluskey / Thermco 4 Kelly"s Sports, 2nd Thermco / CT Sportsplex, 3rd Direct Hire, 4th |

To come back and win a tourney playing 8 straight says a lot about your teams heart, but to beat teams like Kellys and Thermco you must been hitting the cover off the ball. hope to see your team in SPA in Sept. But I must ask Billy to post what Ball was used in Des Moines, after Damon's got done with it was it worn out? |

Aug. 30, 2004 MK39 Men's 50 333 posts | Congratulations to Damon's. Great bunch of guys who played hard and deserve to be repeat champions. The ball was great, the umpires were real good. The fields were preped after every game and the hospitality from all involved was fantastic. Don, Phil, Andy, Bobby, S.Pope, Ratchet and my buddy Steve Shannon. Great job. You beat us fair and square and we respect you for that. See you in Vegas. Mike Kelly Kelly's Sports 50+ |

Sept. 9, 2004 T-REX 64 posts | THANKS FROM THE DAMONS TEAM!!!There seems to be parody this year in the 50 majors, and with teams like Thermco & Kellys,it just comes down to how the ball bounces, for the 2nd year it bounced our way. We're not going to the SPA,but we will be in Vegas...MVP honors I think went to Donnie Clatterbaugh for going something crazy like 34 for 36..have a safe tri9p to your next tourney........ |
Sept. 15, 2004 Proudtex40 57 posts | BillMac, JAH#4, Andy25, Senior11, & Mike Kelly, Thanks for the congrats. I've been thinking (and talking) about retiring from softball for the last several years and everytime I get around all of you guys I realize that softball is just a big part of me. I look forward to competing with and against you all for many years to come. I'm sure we'll have all our regular battles in Vegas and I look forward to seeing you all. Steve Shannon |
Sept. 19, 2004 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Proudtex40-From another Texan, congratulations to Damon's on a great year! It was good to see you and several of the other "OLD" Capital X-Ray/Virginia Pets guys (T-Bone, etc.). Since I just play Senior ball now, I only get to see my old pals at the various Nationals. Your are looking great, my man! Look forward to seeing you and some of the other "old" guard in the upcoming tourneys. Your pal, Larry Lopez (DoubleL10) |
Sept. 22, 2004 MK39 Men's 50 333 posts | Steve Shannon: One of the nicest guys on the ball field. A true gentleman with a lot of talent and a lot of heart. You make the game better so hang in there until you drop. It is always our pleasure to play you guys. See ya in Vegas. Mike Kelly Kelly's Sports 50 + |
Sept. 28, 2004 VickiO 3 posts | Yes, SSWS did confiscate a bat from one of the teams. It has been sent to the manufacturer for testing. And if it comes back "doctored", the player who owned the bat will be banned from Senior Softball for one year. The bat in question was a Miken Viper 14, but more than likely was an Ultra II. Only time will tell. |
