MIDWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
This may be a dumb question but...is the Midwest Championships in Champaign IL considered a qualifier or does it fall under the same guidelines as the Eastern Nationals and Worlds in Phoenix where you must have qualified and have a submitted roster prior to entering?
Our tourney schedule has been somewhat skewed due to the cancellation of a local qualifier we planned on attending.
Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, looks like nobody's going to Akron and that tourney may be kaput, unless somebody from Akron wants to pipe in otherwise. We'd like to go to Phoenix but need a qualifier to get there and our team funding is every man for himself except for the entry fees. That kind of limits us to how far and how many times we can travel.

I have been told by several teams here that the Louisville tournament is full. You might want to look at the Quad Cities qualifier for SSWC.

Anyone looking for an SPA qualifier in the Midwest may want to consider the one in Shelbyville in June.

I talked with Tim a little about the lack of qualifiers in our area which are required for national participation. He said that there could be a possibility of working with SSWC to have a small qualifier if we get enough responses. If there would be enough interest from older teams, diamonds are open during the day. If there is enough interest from the "younger" teams, he has a few dates where he still has some unused fields. Anyway answer here or call me, and we can see if he can do anything to help qualify teams in this area.

JC24, we do not have a team this year, but coachie and I might come down there to visit. I know three teams from here that are not in because they cut off at 18 teams, but I have not talked with anyone that has a game time yet.

If you are in the tournament, maybe you could leave a note here to help him figure out who is in the brackets.

Question, for people going to Louisville. They cut it off at 18 teams, using 2 feilds. 4 games per team times 18 teams is 72 games. You start at 8 in the morning and play till 10 at night on 2 feilds, that is only 60 time periods.I hope they come up with more feilds.

You have to divide 72 by 2 since the teams play each other if it is only 4 games max.

I sure hope Johnny doesn't plan on lumping the major, major + teams in with the AA and AAA's. Since the other 3 teams from Indy didn't get in and are giving her an ear full, she is not too pleasant to talk to right now. If you know how the tourney is going to be run we would appreciate a heads up. Thanks

Corky, all I know is that she has brackets, and the last game start time Sunday is about 5:00. Coachie and I are planning on coming down sometime during the weekend; so hopefully we will catch up with you there.
