Wagon487-Thanks for the props, however Gekle's is not ready to step to the Major+ division. They handled the major opposition well, which, in my opinion was subpar this year. They played Damon's (Major+) and was easily mercied by them.
Champaigne will be a much better test of their "greatness".
The ISF put on a nice tourney (despite some scheduling snafus)-excellant facilities, good field maintenance, good umps and nice weather. However, once again the balls used (Baden-Luxem) would be better suited for a pumpkin patch rather than a world tournament. Gekle's played the finals with their outfielders playing 150-200ft against a major team. Does that say something about the ball and/or the competition?
The Champions of the 55AAA stated that they thought their competition was not on par with past years as they mercied all or nearly all of their opponents.
Many teams complained about the ball which is of no surprise when it comes to ASA sponsored events. Could this be the cause of better teams deciding bypassing this tournament for other associations, especially with the current cost of travel? Teams will probably be more selective.
With the tournament cost, cost of travel, and price of hotels, I doubt if Gekle's will be back next year to defend their title.

My Team was there also. Great fields, decent Umps & great field crew guys! I also did not care for the balls
either. But I won't make any excuses, when you don't hit, you don't win! Congrats to the Geckle Bldr's Team.

Biggflyy, I played on Damon's that last two years.
LF/LC and lead off. I've been around enough to know a major plus team. You got the power, defense and speed.
You will get tired of 10 running everyone. The bad thing about majors plus, not enough teams.

I couldnt agree more about the balls very poor quality. We more than likely wont be back for the reasons mentioned includeing the asa bat rules.Despite of that the event as a whole was very nice includeing host community. We played poorly against Damons while missing 3 starting players SS,OF and EH but thats common place in this game.In my opinion Damons was the only Plus team there. We have our moments but I think we would lose to those guys 7 out 10 games? But as far as using Chanpaigne as a measuring stick we won an 11 team bracket last year (major) and plan on defending this. And I do agree that the compition was subpar for major level (ssusa).

Thanks for all the props. I really enjoyed playing at the facilites, especially botecourt. It's awesome that the workers sweep and rechalk the fields after every game. I'm sure my teammates will vouch for me on this but we're not used to that red carpet type treatment in Michigan. .
As far as the balls they were soft but I actually like that. IMO, the true hitters shine using those balls. Maybe they can allow the U2's if you use a soft ball like that? Just a thought.
As far as us playing major plus? I'd love it, I played it last year and i can tell you there are some serious bashers in that division. The team that beat us in the play-in game, damon's, is a real good team and can do well in major plus. As any competitor would be, I'd love to get another shot at them since we didn't give them our best, but I'm sure teams that we've beat say the same thing about us. I guess that's the competitive drive that lies within most of us.. Congrats to Damon's on winning their division and the other teams winning their divisions. Good luck to all teams the rest of the way.

Gee guys thanks for reminding us that we're not very good softball players.I hope your next tournament brings you better competition than Salem did.Sorry we didn't give you a better game in the finals but we tried our best.

Pill&Pill was I in know way trying to disrespect you guys for your effort.I Think you guys should be very proud of your runner finish after a first rd lose.My comparison was with teams that we have been in the FINALS with in some major touneys in the past. You guys are a great bunch and I wish you all the luck the rest of the season.Only having 10 runs scored against us in 3 rounds in winners bracket was a little strange .

Congrads to Gelke Builders, but I have a question. How are they at 50 Major when they won Champaign 2007? We, Rhinos 55 won same time and were moved up immediately. Maybe they lost some players. Good luck rest of year.
