Start with one ball, one strike
The game goes much faster when the count is one and one to start.
More innings get played.
It makes the batter's more aggressive.
Keeps tournaments on schedule.
I think all major associations should adopt 1 and 1 count to start.

I disagree,Pitcher's have to much advantage know. They can pitch from 2rd base, have 14 foot arch a lot of the time & its a strike if ball hit's plate, even the black at very front

Start with one ball, one strike:

You and a few other guys did not look like you liked the 1 and 1 in panama city beach this year.
Give a real good pitcher that advantage and enuff to work with and your in trouble.
Full count is the only way to go and more so at the worlds.
i would purpose 6 outs instead of 3 to speed the game up. Going in and out is what gobbles up the time.

The sun was in my eyes,
I didn't take my vitamins,
and I drove all the way from California the night before...

Less pitches means less time to think.
Thinking is an asset on chat boards and usually, a liability in the batters box.

One ball, one strike,
forces batters to be more aggressive and pitchers, too.
It means more innings played,
more AB's per game.
Keeps the crowd, the umpire, the defense and the fans in the game.
I like it both from the batter's and the pitcher's perspective.
As a pitcher, you already have the batter's attention when he comes up to the plate.
All in favor, say "I".

I knew that is what your talking about here.
Joe has become quite the pitcher this year chucking some mean a$$ knuckle balls and towards the end of the year he was throwing one of the biggest curve balls i ever saw. With only 2 strikes he can mix it up and would be deadly. Glad your under contract with us for life as i know i would not want any piece of that curve ball.
See ya next week.
ps. bring your vitimins and wear your sun glasses and let charly drive you to the park.

Let's not be afraid of change.
Northern California put 2 rules into effect recently that have greatly helped the senior game.

One was the equalizer home run rule starting at one homerun.
It keeps singles hitting teams in the game with big hitting teams.

The other, a stroke of genius, was to make the rubber 6 feet long going backward towards second base.
It makes the pitching tougher and safer.

Again, I think Platooning and the one and one count would have immediate positive impact for our sport at any level and are effortless to implement.

I've always been a first pitch hitter but starting with 1 & 1 would put the hitter at a disavantage especially if you're facing Joe with his knuckleball or big curve according to Mike.

Mike, why are you posting the same thing several times in arow, are you getting excited when posting?

Joe,
You are like einstein, you're bringing up alot of different ideas, keep it up.

Overall it dosen't make any difference. I wish I had kept a copy of a post a while back on one of the boards where they set up a test and played 15 games with 0 - 0 count and 15 games with the 1-1 count. There was a total of 3 min's difference.

As a pitcher I hate the 1 - 1 count and as a batter it dosen't make much difference as I swing at the first pitch in my hitting zone.

Gentlemen, this is SLOWpitch with the emphasis on SLOW, the ball has to come in at a certain arc and be slow. Why do you need a 4-3 count to hit a SLOW pitch. I think the batter has all the advantage and the pitcher should be able to do anything to get a batter out (USSSA has the right idea, let the pitcher do anything). 1-1 count is the way to go!!!!!!

Hey Fred,
I play many games a year in local leagues with the 1-1 count,
and there's no doubt,
they go faster but
more importantly,
the rhythm and tempo of the game are faster which helps keep everyone's attention and interest up.
And at 57, I'm not voting against anything that helps me get up and stay up.

I'm with Albert on this one.

Playing outfield with a 00 count is BRUTAL!
The good pitchers don't throw strikes until they HAVE to and the good batters don't swing until they HAVE to.

On your toes ready, ready, ready........ball one On you toes ready, ready, ready.....strike (taken). On your toes ready, ready, ready....ball two etc etc all the way to a full count. BAH!

JohnBob said "pitchers have too much advantage now". I don't quite understand how a pitcher has ANY advantage. He has to serve it up UNDERHAND and try and get the hell outta the way.

I don't know that it slows down the GAME significantly but it certainly slows down the PACE.
