SPA Communications Conferences
I see the SPA is planning 5 communications conferences to discuss playing rules, policies, tournament procedures and other senior softball related matters. Is this something worth going to and will it result in changes. This sounds like a good idea in theory. Let me know what you think and if you will attend.

Bruce you need to get in touch with Ridge because he has all the details. I know one is scheduled for Atlanta. You said you attended one two years ago. How did it go and did it have any results?

I attended one two years ago and another three years ago. I remember three years ago we discussed using the mat. Two years ago we discussed the plight of players that had played with Major Plus teams the year before and were then unable to play with AA or AAA teams. They were more or less told that they should have thougt of that when they agreed to play with the Major Plus team.
I would expect that Altered bats would be discussed there this year.
It was good to meet some of the tournament directors in the south east as well as coaches and other players.

Bruce,
Can you do me a favor if you go to one of these. Can you bring up the exempt player thing again?

I hear RB wants to get rid of it and tell those who have no place to play other than AAA or AA to just retire. Ridge wants to keep it as it is with strict rules and no one knows how Terry stands on this.

I would hate to see them follow RB just because he got beat at a world and got beat. So could you bring this up?

I will try to attend the one in Marietta and would like to address the subject. I understand your plight but there are several Major + players that are abusing/stretching the rule. This needs to be addressed.
I won't be able to login till Sunday night as I headed to Fernandina Beach to take bp with the guys there. I make some calls to find out when and where our conference is.

Bruce/Walk: without naming names can you provide some specifics how major + players are stretching/abusing this rule?
