the only list , is the one SSUSA has. the deadline for payment was october 28th. i do not know the reason SSUSA does not post teams that are registered at this time. could it be teams would back out due to lack of teams in their divisions. can we see the list?

Fifty plus from VA Bach is going 50 AAA, I guess everybody else is playing for 2nd place. I will not waste my money if I was you.

The list is up, looks like a lot of teams to me, especially the 60's. I'm too lazy to look up every team's classification so I guess I'll wait for the breakdown.

The list of participating teams is posted, 45 60+ teams listed! I wish they would list the skill levels.
I'll be playing 60 for the first time with the Florida Raptors.
Good luck to everyone.

Thanks Dave, it should be a great tournament. I also like all of the M and M+ teams in 50, 55 and 60 being at the same fields.

Diehard, I did wash it. I will be looking and smelling good on Friday...Do not come close to me on Sunday I will be smelling awful, that is if I am having a good tourney, if not I will wash it everyday to get rid of the bad luck. Are you guys going to FT Myers? Hope to see you there, spread the word to the 50 AAA to stay away from 2nd base, or their BA will go down. Have a wonderful and bless day.

Paco, The High St.50's will be there, but I am going to Vegas the following week with the 55's. You guys have a nice team so I expect your uniform will be quite dirty by Sunday. Good Luck in Ft. Myers.

In the 50 division here's the breakdown so far, 5 teams on the 50 list are not on the ratings list. The other teams are as follows.... 50 major plus - 4 teams, 50 major - 8 teams, 50 AAA - 13 teams and 50 AA - 3 teams.

2awesome, ah, the joys a winning a couple of major tournys. You get bumped up. Sorry........
If i'm not mistaken, you have a great team but not the power that the major plus teams had in AZ.
welcome to the two team tournys on the east coast, if that many. ASA this year, none, ACC in loundon, none, ISSA in manassas, va breach, none, ISF in salem, two. Early bird in York, none. I have no problem with you staying major.

I may be wrong but it is my belief that you go to the TOC in the division that you played in when you won the tournament to qualify for the TOC. That would have been a 2008 tournament. Ft. Myers is a 2009 tournament, so if your team got bumped up after winning a 2008 tournament you must play all 2009 tournaments in the division that you were bumped up to. So I believe Frederick can play in the TOC as a major and in FT. Myers as a major plus.

If a team keeps winning at the same level, why wouldn't they want to move up? What is wrong with a challenge?

Gary19, er Dirty do you ever say anything positive?
On the east coast, there are almost no major plus teams.
I played major plus and the three big tournys on the east coast had two teams, how much fun was that?

I realize that, and if everyone would have a pair and be willing to accept a challenge you wouldn't have that problem. When we here younger everyone want to move up, whether is was from A to Open or even within the program we were playing in. Now middle-age men just want to hang back and collect meaningless rings.

Of course winning is more fun than losing, but winning by rising to a challenge is a WHOLE lot better than hanging back/sandbagging.

Message to Gary 19/Dirty or whatever you call yourself this week. Do you spend all your time ripping people on the computer? I know you and I know you were a pretty good pitcher at one time. Why not start playing competetive ball? We figure out which tournaments to go to in Jan. Never know who or how many teams that will be there. It is always a shot in the dark. But it is still softball and despite all the problems a whole lot of guys still go. Some just want to play and enjoy the competition. I am Terry McClaskey Manager Ohio Silverados. Get in the game Gary, the time is coming when we wont be able to play and that will be a great loss for all of us.

I think you are wrong. I used to play "b" ball years ago.
We would have 20 teams for the states. The last year I played it was down to 4 teams.
It got to the point were most of the b teams were dropping down to play C. The C were dropping down to play D. Then came E ball. This a is problem that has been around for years and it happening big time now in younger ball.

Terry, thanks for the sort of compliment. :)

And by the way, I still am. Your teammates can tell you that.

I would like to play tournaments, but as you know the pickings are slim around here for 50+ teams. Could have played with AMR the past two years, but had made prior commitments first. We shall see what happens next summer.

That might very well have happened. I assume you are talking Utrip. Around here there was really only ASA in the 70s, and only Open and A. I just don't recall many teams ducking playing Open, or individual players ducking it, to play A. I am sure it happened, but we always looked to play up whenever possible.

Hey Guys! I appreciate the discussion on this topic.

Yes my team was moved to Major+ and I believe it
is because we won ASA National's in the Major Division.

I just wanted to ask Dave questions about the Major +
level.

I am not complaining, however we are not a Major+ team.
We will go to Ft Myers and compete and I hope the guys make me Eat My Words.

For the most part though Ft. Myers will be our last Tournament as a Team. At least that's what I'm thinking
now. As stated in this post there are no East Coast
Major+ Teams to play except maybe Damon's. And
let me tell you I have seen Damon's play, what a Nice
team. Can we compete with Damon's, sure, can we beat
them maybe, but we do not have the Power they have.

Anyway it's been fun All good things must end. There
could be alot of Good Players available for teams to pick
up and NO the TOC is now OUT! We won't be there.

That's just the way it goes, there's more to life than
Senior Softball anyway.

Also on a Sad Note one of our players was tragically
killed in a MotorCycle Accident on Saturday. Steve
Orsinger was a Good Guy, as nice as they come.
My prayers go out to his wife & children.

My prayers to your teammate Steve and his family. 2awesome have you seen the new ratings, several teams in your area got bumped including Sweet Construction. We had a great major tourney in Phoenix recently and from the looks of it a number of the top major teams are being moved up. Also out here in the west three other pretty good major teams have moved up in age group leaving a much changed major landscape. Sometimes in life the best decisions are the ones not made. My question why the hasty decision why not wait until after this years summit meeting to see what is moving and shaking. I don't buy the argument that the Major plus division will be left dangling in the wind for 09.

Paco, you aren’t going to be banned from this site. You are way too entertaining. But I wonder if that .700 average would drop a bit playing against upper level players? Regardless, it isn’t up to you what level your team plays. You can and will be moved up if you win too many tournaments or a national championship. Those are the facts. And if I were you, I wouldn’t stop playing senior ball. Your wife will kill you after she let you buy that expensive senior bat. Hey, have a blessed day.

Hi Lecak Thanks for your comments I thank you for thinking
of Steve & his family. Much appreciated.

As for the Major + Division etc. I may be jumping the
gun too soon. Our Team is usually a group thing when it
comes to making decisions. Maybe we will continue to
play, personally I'm always up for a challenge. Time
will tell. Thanks Again though! Rick
