Major + tournaments for 2009
My team just got moved to Major + and we are going to play at this level in Fort Myers this weekend. Moving forward in 2009, we plan to continue to play at this level and obviously would like to attend tournaments which have more than one or two Major + teams playing. What would be the best approach to communicate with other Major + teams as to which tournaments they are attending for 2009 so we can all enjoy playing against each other. Is it feasable to supply email address, phone numbers, Senior softball bulletin board, or another way to communicate to achieve this request. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your post here is a good start. I would think that other players/coaches would respond to you.

Good luck in Ft Meyers. Look me up, I'll be playing with the 60+ M+ Raptors and maybe the 55+ M Southern Slam.

BruceInGA!
Hello from bash up here in Seattle, WA. As a reward for our Ruth 60’s 2008 Major team winning the Major title in PHX last month we are back to Major Plus status in 2009!

You mentioned playing for the Florida Raptors 60’s in '09. Well let me tell you, even though Florida is some 48 hours 12 minutes and 3222 miles away by land from Seattle, we love our Donna & Toll Mihailoff friends! They have family up here in the Pacific NW Tacoma area.

******Warning*****
Our two fine teams could cross paths again next season and we Ruth 60’s M+ will be looking forward to the competition the Raptors bring. All of the 60’s M+ teams need to connect for staging better populated M+ tournaments.

Bruce, We are in the discussion stage of conducting a major /major plus tournament this coming August in Pensacola. Our conversation is centered around contacting each team and getting a loose committment before March 09 and then a firm committment by July 09. We also would extented a welcome to those AAA teams who aspire to play major / major plus. This tournament will be head to head, no gold, silver levels.

Tarheels, it might be a little far, and of course my crystal ball is not working for next year, but the Brickyard qualifier in Indianapolis is the first weekend in May and has seen more Major/Major Plus teams each year. There were 12 this year (10 the year before). Since it is the first Midwest qualifier of the year, Tim has tried to keep it a little more even; so it usually turns out to be a little more fun for the first try out. I can give you a little more information on who was here last year or whatever if you are interested. Good luck in Florida.

Art, we counted on you this past season based upon your early 2008 post on this MB. But you (Ruth Realty) were moved down to 60 majors after we saw you in Reno. This is an option not available to 99% of the M+ teams.
Therefore, we have little reason to expect you in the M+ division next year (after mid June).

Bash, hi! Toll will be moving up to the 65"s. I'm not sure about our schedule but believe we will be traveling west some. See you there!
Len, I passed the info you posted on to Winky. It would be great playing more in Pensacola. Do you think we would be playing at the fields on 9 Mile Rd?

Bruce, Depending on the number of teams we would use both playing fields. BTW, we are in the hunt to bring back the SPA Winter Nationals to Pensacola in 2009

Bash, Tol is playing with us this weekend. I passed on your well wishes to him this morning.
Len, thanks for the info. It would be great to have the SPA Winternationals in Pensacola again.

Bruce, Please pass along my best wishes to Tols and Donna. We will miss them in the 60s! Also, welcome yourself to life in the 60s. Maybe not as "fast-paced" as the 50s and 55s, but we still have fun!

Also, give Ed Rose and Dave Reed my best.

See y'all on the circuit next year. LL
