I cannot understand what is wrong with these people. I am somewhat new to this board and ask, "isn't there a moderator that views these posts and can simply remove posts that are off subject"? Maybe transfer them to a "garbage" category to let these people speak the way they do of others & themselves?

The main reason I was questioning the 52cor ball and the "limits' it has on it, is that it seems it may "reward" a cut-swing player as opposed to a linedrive or slightly upward swinging hitter that drives the ball or hits humpy's through the infield. Most "cut" swingers in the upper levels are trying to drive the ball out of the park. A slight mis-hit will generally overspin the ball lifting it up in the air resulting in time to get under the ball to catch it. However, on a good swing, the ball will carry much further. But, when HR's are not desired, I see more cut-swingers trying to keep the ball in the park and not hit for as high average as a line drive or humpy hitter. Theline drive or humpy hitter is usually hitting for average but occasionally will unintentially drive the ball out of the park. In fact, most of their HR's came from just trying to hit the ball hard.

What I would hate to see is rewarding just cut-swingers (C/EH "big guys") that just cut the ball swinging for the fence everytime. Whereas someone who hits the ball hard (whether slightly upward sing or level swing) is now not capable of being rewarded with a well struck ball. Do we want a ball that only responds to one type of swing. This appears to be what was posted from the results of the TOC in Florida.

But, I do agree also with not rewarding the "cheap" HR's. When a guy misses the ball and is starting to walk back to the dugout thinking he just popped up, then having to see him get back in the baseline sheepishly walking to first base, that sux.

But, now with HR restrictions, who really cares. We'll just have to see now how much more "middle" action there will be. Then, I guess SS-USA will then have reason to bring in softer balls, I'd rather play with regular bats & a good ball, then these hotter bats and a softer ball. Guess we'll just have to see.

HIT IT: SS-USA's, staff, has a great deal of things to do. One of them, may not be censorship. Last year, censorship, did raise it's ugly head, several times.

Cut a ball. This happens when one hits more of a balls bottom half. Top spin, happens when one hits more on the top half of a ball.

Many of us, do enjoy hitting the ball hard. The 52 cor ball, when hit will still cause line drives, knockle balls, top spin, etc.

This is just a safer ball. A ball that travels a few MPH, slower thru the infield. From a few e-mails that I have gotten, the 52 cor ball, was hit over 400 ft, by Boogie & Gorilla Boy.

I don't totally understand why the .52 cor ball does what it does but I can absolutely attest to the fact that it will fly just as far as the .44 and that it will go through the infield slower. I hit with Gorilla Boy, Kevin and Boogie in Phoenix and we were testing the balls. I even hit a few out and Mike, Kevin and Ken were hitting them 400 ft. The surprising thing was when we put infielders in place they could make plays on the .52's and the .44's were exploding past them. Kevin understands why and I don't, but it is true. Defense will become a bigger part of the game with the .52's It seemed to me that when the .52 hit the ground, it would grab and bounce whereas the .44's would not slow down when they hit the dirt. Just my observation.

Balls traveling a bit slower through the infleld sounds like a positive for pitcher safety, hopefully signaling the end to the PPR ... Seems to still be capable of being hit for distance according to reports... Will it keep faux-homerun hitters in the park? ... IMHO exciting games feature good pitching, defense, timely hitting, and the occasional long ball... Please continue to report on this ball as well as others like it.

Thunder Ball in Menifee

NCI 55 never hit their 5 HRS per game, 5 games only 1 dead ball out up the middle. Balls were okay, I think everybody was keeping the rust off their swing. Weather beautiful, sunny, low 80's little of now wind.

Double Nickel 55 didn't hit our limit of five either. In fact, we didn't hit any, lol. We only had one dead-ball out in our five games too, and it was an obvious mistake by the batter. Certainly not intentional.
