Jan. 28, 2009 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | Explosion of interest in the 40 division by all Associations Over the last several years there has been an exponential increase in the 40 and over age group by the players and the associations. Last year when this was brought up to the associations there seemed to be a curiosity factor by the associations and really only one seemed to run with it. That association is now reaping the rewards by attendance from the players. I got to speak with most of the heads of the associations and all of them are showing a major interest in having this age group represented at their events. On the west coast there has been a very active 40's division for at least the last 4 years and the players seem to know how to network. I've noticed that more and more 40 players are looking for teams from different areas of the country and advertising their availability. If this gets read by the 40 players or those who hope to see this group become "true seniors" please have them contact one of the active senior associations I believe the players and teams will find an enormous of interest from the associations. I suspect in the next 2 or 3 years this is one of the great success stories. |
Jan. 28, 2009 F.O.G. Men's 40 105 posts | Great post, Joe. True enough that the 40+ division is growing. I know I've made a number of calls and tryed to generate as much interest as possible. With SSUSA offering 40+ divisions in most of their qualifiers, LVSSA coming aboard next year, and Redding Masters starting up in Northern California, NCSSA is going strong, WSL in SoCal offers some good 40+ competition, there's alot available for the 40+ crowd. Anyone wanting more info can contact me at oldschoolmasters@yahoo.com The 40+ division will be the new foundation of senior softball. Mike Williams National 40+ Director |
