When all is said and done...
One of the best quotes
of all time is,
"When all is said and done,
more is said than done."

The dust seems to be settling from a lot of painful controversy.
I‚ve learned that
if this game isn‚t enjoyable,
it‚s not worth the bother.

If the balls stink∑
If the bats stink∑
If the rules aren‚t fair∑
If someone‚s cheating∑
If there‚s real animosity involved∑
It ain‚t fun and it‚s not worth the bother to me.

I forgive anyone who‚s offended me and ask the forgiveness of anyone I‚ve hurt.

So when and if
you see me next year,
I‚ll be hard to miss.
I‚ll be the old guy with grey hair
and a big smile on his face,
competing his ass off,
and trying to have fun.

Joe...well said...all of this other malarkey only serves to kill the enjoyment of playing. I, also, offer the same statement that you have so simply stated.

I forgive anyone who‚s offended me and ask the forgiveness of anyone I‚ve hurt.

As Buffalo33 says, "Life is too short" and "We're all brothers and sisters in God's eyes".

Good luck to all in 2005, and I'll see you on the field.

peace

I'm sure you are both fine men, but your resignation to the will of Terry, Ridge and RB and the ASA and other "leaders" of Senior softball is precisely why they will never listen to us.

Because despite all our protestations and how right we may be, our desire to play is greater than thier desire to listen to us or allow us to to influence what they percieve to be rules that are"in the best interest of the game" no matter how unfair or unjustified they may be!

Our only weapon is boycotting thier tournaments and we will never be committed or unified enough to do it to the extent necessary to get thier attention.

It's a shame but it truly is play by thier rules or stay home!

In my forties, I was ready to quit softball; I had played with Lighthouse & other great teams. Then I met Winkey who persuaded me to play on the Faith Electric 50+ Team. I have never regretted it. I have seen some great competition & made some lasting friendships. I have beat some of the great teams & have been beaten by the great teams. After each game, I NEVER think if the other team is using altered equipment, I just look in the mirror & ask myself; did you give 100% & did you show class in your win or loss; & what can I do to give my opponents more competition. I know there may be problems in all associations & I am for trying to make senior softball better, but when I go out & play with a bunch of disrespectful youths in tourneys or in league ball, I run back to Senior Softball & say; Thank God.

PS We all are going to get on each other's nerves at times, but 'thanks' to the above men, they want to clear their conscience & go forward; way to go Einstein & Billy Mac.

Hey Pro,
I didn't feel or see any aquiesence to the status quo regarding unfair conditions as they exist in Senior Softball in my remarks.
What I said was that I won't play if it's not fair or fun.

einstein,
i understand how you feel. fighting thiskind of stuffcan be hard. it sometimes feels like the fight is not worthit and itcan be tiring. but as myhistorical namesake once said
"And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing totrade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just onechance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom?!

the point is if we stopthe rebellionand do not let our voicesring out everywhere we go thenas prosaid Terry, Ridge and RB and the ASA and other "leaders" of Senior softball will never listen to us."

thereis nothing wrong withthe boycott just don't quietfightin.

Einstein: Great word"acquiesence",but be careful. Last year I used "magnanimous" and got hammered on Walk's board as a smart-aleck punk.
Yo Braveheart: How many times have you seen that movie? Let me use a less literary quote: "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face". I don't care what rulings Curly, Moe, and Larry hand down, I'm still gonna play softball.
Yesterday I found out that I have prostate cancer. Fortunately it is in the early stages so there is an excellent chance of recovery. If things go wrong, God I am going to miss this game. Peace.

William Wallace: If, what you said in an earlier post is true (which I am now starting to doubt) and I quote;

" i amjust a lowly little senior league player fromva who at one thyme in the yer of ourlord 2004 considered playing sume tourney ball at the aa level. nothing more nothing less."

Why are you so involved in trying to get people to boycott certain organizations? By your own admission, you haven't played tournament ball, and you aren't from an area that would be affected even if you did.

Either you are just a rabble rouser, or you are not who you claim to be. I expect that you will come back with something about the cause of freedom, but because you aren't a tournament player, your request to boycott can't carry much weight with those who are.

I noticed in Einstein's post that Kelly's Sports schedule had a large number of tournaments in his area in California, so I assume that most of the California teams could boycott the associations and still have plenty of ball to play. The same holds true for Florida with the Half Century Org.

The rest of the country would be hard pressed to put together a tournament schedule if they boycotted all the org's that are involved.

otd i assumed even my view point as a lonely league player who wanted to play tournament ballwas asaccepted as others. i guess not. i guess the above statement "Dedicated to informing and uniting the Senior Softball Players of America and the World." is onlyfor those fewwho areallowed to play tournamentsoftball.

I think you are right on target. let play ball. If you boycott the tournament who are you hurting? there no union in softball yet. You would only be hurting yourself by staying at home. Next thing you know you will have a long list of honey do's to work on. I think I rather be playing a little ball than cleaning ang mowing the yard. I too will be on the field trying to beat Billy's team , no matter how good of a friend he is istill love to beat him as he does in beating our team. But after the game we can sit down and still be good friends , thats what its all about.
