55 Major
I guess Ken and Duke were right a few months back. Maybe Double Nickels ISN'T a Major team. :-)
Nice going, guys.

Thanks. What’s the old saying, even a blind pig finds an acorn every once in a while, lol. We played very well and beat a lot of good teams in a well run tournament. All the teams were evenly matched, and anybody could have won. Kudos to Dave. His fields are always run well.

Jano: do I see Kenny sidestepping
your apparent reference to "isn't
a MAJOR team" last year? or just
doesn't want anyone to know that
they can "sandbag" with the best!!

JJ, I know you are kidding, and what you are saying is at least half tongue-in-cheek, but when we were moved up last year, we were a new team that hadn’t won anything other than a couple of qualifiers by an average of 6 runs more than the opposition. You of all people, being on a team that won a few rings and continued to stay at AA, should know about sandbagging, lol. Right now, Phil Cobb’s team is going through the same thing. If a team is moved up, you have to have a valid, concrete basis for doing it, not just some arbitrary statistic like “6 run differential”. The opinions of other managers and tournament directors are more important that statistics. When a team is moved up, it should be because they are clearly better than the other teams in their class, not because you want the illusion of a better turnout at the upper division.

Double Nickels wins in major after all their crying about being moved up last June from AAA. Guess they should be Major+ now in SSUSA..They get my vote for sandbaggers of the year.

The major division is a lot different now after all the move-ups, just like our team is different with the addition of new players. We never said we couldn’t compete at that level, just that there had to be a valid reason to move someone up. But your small-minded view of things probably won’t allow you to see all the changes in senior softball from last year. I see from where you are located what team you probably play for and, unlike some of the others from that team, you are a sore loser. Why not get all the facts before you spout off. Are all the teams that are complaining about the current crop of move-ups sandbaggers? I guess in your mind, they are. I think that if you don’t agree with something you should stand up for yourself and question the thinking behind the decision, rather than hide behind message board aliases. Get a life.

Kenny: you know Jano and I have to get in our digs when we can!! We are in the same position as you were last year
but we will continue to play and see how
we do. We were a good AA team but we didn't win any major championships (we did win a ring tournament-CA state championships) but I think we got moved up because we won by an average of +5 runs and we were able to score five runs an inning on a regular basis. So far in AAA we are 2-6 against AAA teams
and not having as much fun as we did last year. Be easy on ##7-he does have
the right to express his opinion-right or wrong!!

JJ, that's true, but if he's going to say something about somebody, or brand a team as, basically, cheaters, he should get his facts straight.

ken i think #7 was busting your chops just like the start of this thread.dont be so sensitive.you have to appreciate the sarcasm when he says ss-usa should move you up to major plus.the way things are going in senior softball that could become a fact.we know too well what is happening and have no control over what will happen.every team from new york state got moved up.the rochester 50 team wasnt even the best team in rochester but got moved up with gubiottis.teams that finished higher in tournies they went to and the toc didnt move up.why? how come?they didnt have enough players to play in loudon so they used some of ours and won.since then they were able to field a team and never came close to winning.the problem with our area is that we cant recruit any new players so when teams move up unfairly they are behind the 8 ball.when you and other teams in the nice weather area move up it is easier to recruit.i remember your post asking for new players, which as a coach and player makes me jealous.congrats on your win and hope you win many more.stay safe and keep hitting jr pace#11

JR, my response was triggered by a number of personal emails that I received saying they thought the guy was out of line in his comments. If what he said was the product of “a very dry wit”, then he has my apology. I hope we see you guys at a tournament this year. Unlike a lot of the teams in our division, we aren’t sponsored, so it’s kind of tough to go east.

ken,
whoa, a little sensitive aren't we. Yes ,we,Pace ,did lose to Double Nickels in the LVSSA 55+ finals(27-25) but we hold no grudges and accept the fact that we can compete with whatever level you find yourselves at.( We didn't win a single 55 AAA tourney last year but were deemed 55 major material by USSSA) In fact we relish the fact that we find ourselves able to play at 'your level'. But please hold your pity for us as we have never and will never retreat from taking on the challenge of competing with the best. We will never deny where associations find us to belong. In fact we await the opportunity to face Double Nickels at the earliest possible time and place to eradicate the distaste we have for losing to your inferior squad. If we had not missed our 4 starters in Vegas I am sure we would have crushed you inspite of playing 5 games in the 100+ degree heat. Tell your out of state recruits that we mean business the next time we face off and that we will hold no prisoners the next time we bring our town team out west to conquer the left handed multi-state sandbaggers. And bring Einstein, Duke's buddy, if you feel the need.....

USSSA should read SSUSA. For no apparent reason someone on the secret evaluation committe has deemed us an upgrade without earning it with a 55+ AAA win in a national tourney or by hammering opponents. In fact we haven't ever played SSUSA..... I hate to side with Einstein on this one but the 'secret gestapo' commitee has really outstepped its bounds on the reevaluation selection analysis.

#7(you only get one#),

For the record, I don't think Duke knows Einstein, nor do I. But I hear he is a good player and would welcome him on our team when we play you again.

Hey, #7, do you think that you were moved up because you won the SPA 50 AAA last year with your 55 team? You must be aware that associations use the results in other national tournaments to make their decisions. I don't think you have to worry about competing at the 55 major level. You'll do fine.
