Rather than Major+, Major, AAA.....
First of all, it is apparent that with the diversity among people that play softball, no one set of rules will appease everyone. So, thinking outside the box, why not let players choose the rules that they play under, as follows. Each tournament would offer brackets and let the teams choose where they want to play:

Unrestricted:
10 year age divisions (50 - 60, 61 - 70)
no additional sub-classifications
no limit on hrs
no limit on runs per inning
no ppr
no time limit
limited to two or three pre-approved balls (brand/model designated)
slightly higher entry fees
start with 1 - 1 count, no extra foul

Restricted:
5 year age divisions
no additional sub-classifications
current hr rules
current runs per innings rules
current ppr rule
any ball director sees fit, although it will have to be identified in advance
slight lower entry fee
current balls/strikes rules

This way we all know what you are getting before we plop down money for tournament, rooms, travel, etc.

The unrestricted (even ages) is what it used to be like until the senior assn's and leagues tinkered with it.
So, udaplaya, you going to be the one to start this going?
Not practical for tournaments given the length of time games would take. Could be shortened with a mercy rule.

yea were done, unfortunatly a little to soon.Ran out of out fielders Sunday finals.Scored 156 runs Sunday in three games, hit 111 HRS over seven games with team batting average of .767 all for second place. That should be an indicator of what it,s going to take to win this tourney for 50 M+ teams.I think we are all playing for second place to the Mavs. See ya in Phoenix?
