Last year,Phoenix was our first Major tournament, and a new ball was thrown in by the other team that was very cold. I asked the umpire about it, and he said that I had to pitch it. Not knowing any better, I did. Now that I know better, who do I see this year to correct this problem during a game? Come on guys, with the bat technology and the supposed shaved bats, what else do you need? BTW, our team has no need to purchase softballs for any tournament. If they are free, then we will take them, but only for batting practice balls. We have never utilized this odd rule, yet. LOL! Andy Smith, Manager/Coach Double Nickels |

| Oct. 14, 2009 TGIII Men's 55 81 posts | Andy I know what you mean. We played in a tournament that had iced down balls and two of our bats were broken because of it. The ball really flew out of the park but we paid a huge price for broken bats. |

| Oct. 15, 2009 Duke Men's 60 604 posts | Joe, I knew that, but I looked again. It actually has been added in bold print, "No Chilling of Softballs" What I would like to know, is what the penalty would be for this infraction. I saw the bat penalty, but did not see the chilling ball penalty, or do I assume the same as the bat penalty. I just want to know is the other team penalized, the player, and what is the penalty. If SSUSA could tell me their interpretation of this, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank in advance! Andy Smith, Manager/Coach, Double Nickels |
