Passing of Henry Reid
Just thought I would let everyone know that Henry Reid (Big Henry)that played with the Pensacola 60/Johnstons Cabinet\'s team died this morning. The softball brotherhood has lost a fine person and softball player.

I didn't know Henry but several guys that I played with on the Pensacola Hitmen always spoke highly of him. I hate to see him gone.

Thanks for the post Airbosn. This is a sad day for Senior Softball as well as the Northwest Florida senior ball players. We all new Henry. He was a great teammate and I enjoyed playing with him. He was a noble person and had a great attitude despite his failing health. I will miss seeing him at the ballpark but I know he has gone on to a better place.

Henry O. Reid.
A gentle big man. I met him in Alabama in 2002 at the BASA Worlds and heard his booming voice from the parking lot calling out my name and knew it was him because we had talked on the phone for 2 years before i met him that day.
Talked to Henry and some of his buddies last year at the USSSA Worlds in Panama City Beach and he did not let on that his health was failing so i am in shock to hear of his passing.
If any one on this board knows where i can send flowers for Henry O. please post that information. Henry, Save a spot on your new team for me and i will see you a little bit later.

Thanks Airbosn. Henry was also a Rep for my store and i have shipped him bats 25 different times in the last 4 years so i have his address. I will send flowers to his home address along with his final paycheck from Kelly's Sports.
I wish more people were like Henry, He actually cared about his friends and softball team mates. I heard it in every conversation we ever had. Henry was a very unselfish person and he was a breath of fresh air.
I have put a notice on the home page of my website about Henry and thousands will see it every day, Most won't know or care but maybe Henry will see it.and know we are trying to say goodbye for now.
Thanks again
Mike Kelly Kelly's Sports 50+ and all the Kelly's Sports employees who talked on the phone or met Henry in Panama City last year.

Henry Otis Reid passed on Monday, 2 May 2005 at 5:40 AM.

Services will be held Monday, 9 May 2005 at:
Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church
210 W. Leonard St
Pensacola, Florida 32501

His fraternity will hold a special service starting at 10:00 AM. Open casket for this service. All are welcome.
Regular services will commence at 11:00 AM. Closed casket for this service.

Henry had many friends in and out of softball, and will be sorely missed by all who came in contact with him on any level. He is the reason that many of us are still in the game. Through his friendship, inspiration, and encouragement we sometime kept trying when we were ready to quit. Even now we will try to carry on in his absence.

Thanks terryspears.
I talked with Henry's wife Phyliss this morning and will send a wreath of flowers.
I recall how jazzed Henry was last year to when i introduced him to Denny Jones from our team as he thought the world of Denny and played against him back in the day at the upper levels.
Thanks for the update.
